NEUFELD, Freda Elvira

With a great sense of loss and much love, the family of Freda Neufeld announce her passing on March 9, 2024.

Freda was born in Deloraine, Manitoba in 1935 and spent her childhood years on the family farm near Whitewater, attending Petersburg school. At the age of ten her parents, Jake and Mary, moved the family to Agassiz, BC. The family later moved back to Boissevain, Manitoba when Freda was a teenager.

Freda married Bruno in 1954, and they settled on the Neufeld family farm near Boissevain where they raised their four children. She loved knitting, crocheting, baking, and cooking and shared these gifts with family and friends. Freda was a dedicated volunteer for many years with the Kelowna General Hospital bistro and craft group, and the chemotherapy clinic at BC Cancer Kelowna. She attended Trinity Baptist Church, devoted to her faith in God.

Freda enjoyed curling and golfing over 40 years, where she made many lifetime friends. She also liked travelling and went on many trips and cruises with Bruno during their 60 years of marriage.

My heart is heavy and sad as I sit down to write this note. Your Mom & my Mom were great friends. From curling competitively together for many years to your mom coming for coffee, or my mom coming to the farm to get a garment altered. I remember the skirt that your mom whipped up for me for Square Dancing and how much I loved it! Your Mother was such an amazingly talented and lovely lady. It’s really hard going onto the next stage in life without that parent that we so loved and appreciated. I’m happy that your mom and dad enjoyed Kelowna and their life there so much.
I’m sorry to each of you, Dianne, Carole, Wendy & Ron. Please accept my most sincere condolences and know, that if I could? I would be with you on Friday as you get together to remember all the wonderful memories you have and I also share. .
