NEUGEBAUR, Harry

Our family is sad to announce the loss of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, on October 11, 2023. Harry Neugebaur passed away peacefully at the age of 99.
Harry was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Johann “John” and Barbara Neugebauer, the youngest of five children. Harry met Elsie Haus and they married on May 3, 1947. They then resided on the Neugebauer family farm, in Saskatchewan, where they raised their 3 children. Family and music were at the centre of Harry’s world. At an early age, he taught himself how to play the banjo and accordion. Harry loved to laugh and was happiest when he was playing music for family and friends. Harry and Elsie retired to Kelowna, BC in 1979, where he became a dedicated volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion. Harry and Elsie spent many years camping and fishing all over the Okanagan.
Harry goes to join his family that has gone before him, loving wife of 74 years Elsie; his parents Johann and Barbara Neugebauer; sisters Ida, Alma, and Martha; and granddaughter Sandra. Those he leaves to mourn include: his children Murray, Marilyn (John), and Rodney (Janice); his grandchildren Josh, Jeff (Trisha), Cory (Mandy), Seth, Patti (Mel), Audrey (Chris), Tim, John Jr., Brett (Sarah), Tyler (David), Chaydyn (Myles), and Keighgan; his great-grandchildren Sam, Skye, Julia (Brandon), Nikolas, Jakob, Emily, Patrick (Niki), Melissa, Pierce, Moira, Stephen, Catherine, Brett, Beatrix, and Burton, and great-great-grandchildren Wynter and Pryce. He will also be remembered by his sister Hilda Bastin; brothers-in-law Herb Haus and Ken (Earleen) Haus; and sister-in-law Marlene Wilson and Marlene Haus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry’s laughter and sense of humour will be dearly missed.
We wish to thank Dr Heidi Ingram, Trinity Care Centre and The Concorde Retirement Residence for all their kindness, care, and support to our dad over the last several years.
A service to honour Harry will be held on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2023, 10:00 AM (PST), at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME: 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.

My blood. No words can ever express the love I have for uncle Harry.. He treated me like his little girl. Always full of love.. Not only have you lost your Dad, Grampa, I’ve lost my favourite uncle.

I’ll always remember Uncle Harry playing his banjo and leading the singing to “We Won’t Go Home Until Morning” at our large family gatherings. Happy times! My condolences for your loss.
Deepest Sympathy in the loss of someone so special in you life. I have such wonderful memories of Uncle Harry, especially at the farm with his beautiful music and always so welcoming and hospitable.
To Harry’s beautiful family and all those that loved him dearly… Our heartfelt condolences to you all at this very sad time. Harry was such a bright light and a very kind man, he will be missed. May his heavenly reunion be that of joy and love for eternity with his beloved Elsie. Rest well dear Harry….
