We Remember
ONO, Francis Takeshi
November 7, 1937 — August 28, 2024
Francis Ono, age 86, passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on August 28, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Michi; sons Bryan, Clifford, and Keith; sister Margie (Los Angeles, CA); brother-in-law Bob (Helene) Hatanaka; nieces and nephews and their families in the USA and Kelowna. Sadly predeceased by his parents, brother, and three sisters.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 7, 1937, with five siblings. Francis graduated in 1955 and later moved to L.A. to work. In 1967 he met Michi when she came to L.A. to work. They married in May 1968. In May 1975 they moved to Kelowna with their three sons to be with Michi’s mom. Francis worked as a machinist at Monashee Mfg, retiring in 2004.
Francis enjoyed bowling, golfing, travelling, and getting together with family and friends. He also enjoyed being a part of his church, Kelowna Christian Center. Francis’ family went to Japan from 1984 – 1990 with YWAM (a missionary organization) and had an awesome experience there.
Francis was very kind, tenderhearted, and fun to be with, a loving husband and father. He loved Jesus, his Lord, and Saviour, who was his all and all, and is now loving his heavenly home. Francis will be missed by all who knew him. “Dad, we love you, keeping you close in our hearts until we meet again.”
A private family gathering for the interment will be held on September 16, 2024. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Funeral Home.
