O’ROURKE, Michael Daniel UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION

June 21, 1955 — March 13, 2025

“What a long, strange trip it’s been” – Jerry Garcia

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael O’Rourke (aka Mike, Big Mike, and Mike the Meatman). A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Michael, known for the twinkle in his eyes and his larger-than-life presence, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on March 13, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He joins his late parents, Herb and Mae O’Rourke, and his younger brother, Tim, who have passed before him.

Michael was married to the love of his life, Denise, for 36 years. Together, they raised a wonderful family; Michael was the proud father of Sara (Jim), Mackenzie (Brittnay), Connor, and Jackson. He was also a cherished grandfather to Tanner, Linden, Liam, and Chloe. He is also survived by his older sister Maureen (Dave) and his sister-in-law Barb.

A dedicated professional in the food sales industry for most of his career, Michael’s journey took a special turn when he and Denise started a small family run store, “O’Rourke’s Uptown Market”, which they ran for 11 years. He was also a proud member of the Legion.

Michael’s quick wit, jokes, and stories made him a memorable man. Those who were fortunate enough to have met and loved him were sure to be left with a “Michael O’Rourke” story that made them laugh, smile, and remember him fondly. His legacy endures in the laughter he spread. He will be missed.

Rest in peace, Michael. Your story is far from over, and we will carry it with us forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at the Creekside Pub and Grill, 3929 Lakeshore Rd, Kelowna, BC. Please come and share your memories and stories about Michael.
