We Remember

OSTRY, Mark Daniel

September 17, 1960 — January 30, 2026

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mark Ostry after a courageous battle with cancer.

Family was always first with Mark. He leaves behind Karen his wife of 43 years; sons, Steven (Maryeliza), Matthew (Kandra); his 2 grandsons, Kallen and Nolan; his sister Linda (Jim); brothers-in-law, Bill (Cindy), Mike (Shelley); and all of his nieces and nephews.

Mark was a respected accountant for over 40 years, created his own successful practice, and taught for CPA BC.

With a passion for music, Mark loved to go to rock and roll concerts. He loved the freedom of driving his motorcycle and his Trans AM. He was a lifelong fan of his hometown sports teams – the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Eskimos.

Thank you to Dr G. Verster, Dr D. Loch, and the entire team at the cancer clinic; as well as the palliative care team; and the Central Okanagan Hospice House for exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and BC Cancer Foundation.

Condolences

  • Yasmine Moulin says:

    Dear Karen and family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time.
Mark was a wonderful person and will be remembered with great respect and warmth by all who had the privilege of knowing him. I had the privilege of working (hiring) with Mark for many years. He was an excellent accountant and tax professional and speaker. His kindness and presence made a lasting impact, and he will be truly missed. Mark and I had fun chatting about 70s music and especially Donny Osmond lol. He was so much fun to talk with. My CGA-BC team (Ruth and Tamalee) and I really enjoyed his stories and admired his love for you and family.
I cannot imagine the pain you are going through, but please know that you and your children are in my thoughts. I hope you find comfort in the love you shared, the memories you hold close, and the support of those around you.
    With sincere sympathy,
Yasmine Moulin, former PD Manager at CGA-BC / CPABC
