We Remember

PACK, Shaun

Shaun David Pack, 39, of Kelowna, BC, passed away on July 24th, 2013.

The funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. Visitation will be held at 3-4 PM, prior to the service.

Shaun was born in Drayton Valley, Alberta on March 23, 1974.  He graduated from University of Victoria and University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus, receiving degrees in Science and Education.

Shaun moved to Seoul, Korea to teach English after his first degree, and to finally indulge in his love to travel. While there, he met his soul mate, HoBoon Lee. They married on December 29, 2003 at his family home in Kelowna, and in Seoul Korea at a traditional Korean Village May 22, 2004, with his Korean family and in his second home.

After obtaining his Education Degree in 2006, Shaun moved to China to teach Mathematics and Calculus for the Maple Leaf International Schools, initially in Shinyang, China and then relocated to the campus at Dalian, China, which became his current home. He was a popular and respected teacher and was honored to teach at the AP program level. He returned to BC to spend summers with Boonie and his family and friends. Shaun enjoyed music and films, playing his guitar, and mastering new languages including Mandarin and Korean, and utilizing the latest technology to enhance his innovative teaching skills. He and Boonie travelled extensively in South East Asia and he managed to talk her into many terrifying water adventures, as well as bike rides and camping in BC during the summers. He will most likely be remembered for his undeniable uniqueness of gifted intelligence, determination and side-splitting wit.

Shaun is remembered by his wife, HoBoon Lee; his mother and step-father Jill & Bruno Kurth; his father, Paul Pack; his sister and brother in-law, Kerri & Robert Janota; step brothers, Hans and Eva Kurth and Eric Kurth; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and many life long friends both in Canada and the many places he worked.
