We Remember
Padwick, Herb (Paddy)
January 1, 1970 — January 1, 1970
Passed away on May 5 2012 at Kelowna General Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 70 years. He is survived by his wife Leslie, his son Chris (Karen), and grandchildren Ryan and Lauren of Colorado, his parents Herb Sr. and Isobel Padwick of Calgary, sister Anne Reid (Mike) and family of Calgary, and sister Cathy Coates (Joe) and family of Calgary. Herb was born in Winnipeg Manitoba. He grew up in Regina and Regina Beach. He married Leslie Lemcke from Wolseley, Sask in 1968 and lived in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he worked at Roloflex, a family owned business. Following his time at Roloflex he worked for IBM and won Rookie of the Year in his first year. However, Herb was a quintessential “car guy” at heart. He joined Percival Mercury in Regina and quickly distinguished himself as a top salesman. After a long and successful career as general sales manager at Percival Mercury, he started his own consulting company in 1992, and began doing sales training for the Murray Auto Group in Winnipeg, Manitoba as well as other dealerships across the country. His relationship with the Murray Auto Group flourished and he and Leslie moved to Winnipeg where he joined the Murray GM store. They became partners with the Murray Group in a GM dealership in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 2003. Herb had a great fondness for Estevan and enjoyed the time he spent with the Estevan Chamber of Commerce among other local organizations. After several successful years of running that dealership, he retired in 2008. Herb always wanted to be a pilot. He got his pilot’s license at the age of 65 and was very active in the maintenance and management of Estevan airport. Herb embraced the snowbird lifestyle, and shared his time between Canada and the United States, where he would visit his grandchildren in Colorado and golf in Arizona. Throughout his life, Herb was a music lover. He spent many years playing guitar and singing in several bands that performed throughout Saskatchewan. Herb had a very positive effect on many people’s lives and he will be missed by his family and friends. We invite you to join us to celebrate his wonderful life at the Wascana Country Club, Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 29, 2012, from 3pm to 5pm.

Leslie, and family:
We are deeply sorry to hear the news about Herb. He was a great person in the auto dealer business. Phil enjoyed working for him at Murray GM in Estevan. He was always asking for a picture of our kids. Thanks for being a positive figure in our lives.
Dearest Leslie and Family:
I’m so sorry to hear this news. Most knew Herb as “Paddy” and he was a very close friend and partner of mine through the Roll-O-Flex years of 1970 to 1974. Last July 2011, there was a reunion of Roll-O-Flex held in Regina. Myself, Paddy and three other R.O.F. originals attended and had the greatest day re-calling old storys. A day that will never be forgotten by those that attended. Cherrish those times Leslie, I certainly will.
Your friend…
Gene Glaze.
A special day, with Herb (Paddy) July, 2011.
We are saddened by the news this morning.I have so many great memories of “Paddy” of my days at Rollo-Flex and also in later years. He was a great person and a great man. Barry
Leslie, and family: Sorry to hear of your loss. I met Herb last summer at the Roll-O-Flex reunion, we only talked briefly, but he made a lasting impression. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Leslie and family: We are saddened by the news of Herb’s passing. I had the good fortune to work with Herb three different times throughout our careers. Each time, both of us were in different roles. As a result, I was fortunate to experience Herb’s sense of humour, unique opinions, and his well balanced philosophy on many subjects. Herb was my boss for a couple of years in Regina. Our last time working together was as co-managers of the Sales Department at Dan Murrays dealership in Winnipeg. I continued to learn from Herb in those years. Herb was an excellent sales professional. The thing that made him great was his friendliness and his ability to make people feel welcome in the showroom. He was always picking up a customer’s baby, or making a fuss over their kids. He made the car business fun. It was a pleasure knowing him and working together.
Dear Leslie and Family. Distance and time caused me to loose track of your beloved Herb, but his memories live on. I remember his joining the St. James Rotary club and the good times we had together. On his farwell party he stated, ” Rotary is one of the best experiences ever”. Herb’s was a life of example to remember. Sincere condolences Larry Buhler Winnipeg

Dear Leslie. What an overwhelming sadness for the people in your world that we have lost Paddy. He was one of the greats in so many ways and things just won’t be the same. Memories are all filled with laughter and fun. You have my deepest sympathy. He will be missed.
Dear Leslie
We are so sorry to hear of Herb’s passing.
We just arrived back from South Africa yesterday following our own family medical emergency otherwise we would have heard of your sad loss and been in touch earlier.
I feel that I have to let you know that as a physician there are only a handful of patients who are able to make an unforgettable impression on your life and Herb certainly was one of those patients in my life. He never let his disease dictate his desire and love to live his life to the fullest and what a testimony that was to myself and all around him. I will always treasure the weekend how excitedly he called me up at home and invited me to go flying with him. I witnessed a man living his dream.
I will always count it an honor and a privilege having had Herb as a patient during my time in Estevan. He taught me that one an still live and dream after been given a horrible diagnosis and he was a great example of this.
We wish you and your family Gods peace and all the best in the future.

Belated condolences from Bev & I to Leslie and family. Back in the early days of snomachines, as part of Tenold Farm Eq, we sold Wild One machines distributed by Herb and his father. In this endeavor and thro’ Murray GM in Estevan, Bev & I enjoyed many great visits w/ Herb who not only sold us all our vehicles while he was here but never failed to say a big happy Herb “Hello” whenever we met. He will always be remembered by us! Sincerely Bev & Gary McKechney
