We Remember

PALMER, Joshua Charles

February 23, 1984 — April 20, 2024

Joshua Charles Palmer, 40, passed away on April 20, 2024. Anyone that got the privilege to know him knew he had the best sense of humor and could brighten any situation with a joke. He is survived by loving spouse, mother of his youngest son Bailey Jones; mother of his children and best friend Rachelle Unser; his three beautiful children, Declan, Avi, and Hudson; his brothers Tyler Palmer and Cory Palmer; sister-in-law Kim Palmer; nieces Kalia and Kamryn; and nephews Travis and Kohen. Josh is also survived by extended family, aunts, and uncles – Shirley/Jim Melnychuk, Gerald Derkack/Shawna Paziuk, and Sam Palmer; cousins, Stacey, Melissa, Angie, and Kerry. Josh was predeceased by his parents Gord and Jane Palmer; grandparents John & Anne Derkach and Charles & Florence Palmer; and cousin Jessica Melnychuck.

Josh was born and raised in Kelowna, BC. He spent his younger years in Peace Valley trailer park, where he learned to ride dirtbikes and snowmobiles, and built many friendships that he kept in contact with. Josh’s favourite sport was baseball, which he started playing at a very young age. He was an avid southpaw with RMBA until he was too old to play in the league with Coach Gord, aka Dad, and Mom always cheering in the stands. Josh graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary, also acquiring a diploma from BCIT for the small engine mechanics program. Josh met Rachelle and not long after came their first born son, Declan in 2008, and his daughter, Avi in 2010. Josh changed jobs and cities along the way until he ended up Grand Forks, where he met his partner Bailey. Josh and Bailey had their son, Hudson in 2022… All Josh talked about was his kids, he loved them so much. Josh is going to be missed by so many people who loved him, who cared for him, and who wanted to help him. We all cherish the time we had with him.

You were a great father, uncle, son, brother-in-law, brother, grandchild, nephew, and more. We will always miss you no matter what. We love you with all of our hearts. Listen to In The Stars by Benson Boone (it helps me remember you uncle Josh) Rest in peace uncle Josh. Love Kalia

We all loved you, you were a great father to your kids, you were a great uncle. Love Kamryn.
