Dorothy passed away on October 24, 2013 at the age of 79. She is survived by her loving husband Donald Parks; her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Sadly predeceased by her two sons, Donald Parks and William Parks. There will be no service by request of the family. As an expression of sympathy, you may send memorial donations to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation – Cardiology, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2. I’m so sorry to hear this sad news, I had the great pleasure in meeting ‘Derf’ a few years ago when her and Bergy put on a very lavish lunch for myself, my husband and my Mother in North Vancouver. She was a true gem and I am so pleased to have known her.

So very sorry to heat=r of the loss of dorothey. I first met her 12 years a go on recipezaar online. She must have been a wonderful cook, every one of her recipes i tried was delicious.

My thoughts and prayers are with Derf’s/Dorothy’s family and friends, of which I heard so many good things. I co-hosted a food photo forum with her at recipezazz which had us chatting almost daily. I will surely miss those chats. A beautiful lady has left us. She is now at peace and reunited with her two sons.
I knew “Derf” on Zaar. She was one that I always trusted in her reviews and her recipes. She had wit, expertise and common sense. I give her family my condolences. She touched many and she will be missed. (aka Scoutie)

She was my partner in the holiday ornament swap so many, many years ago, and a more thoughtful and generous partner she could not have been, trying to send so much of Canada to me in one big box.

Derf was one of the first people I met on Recipezaar. She was a dear, dear lady who I will always remember with great fondness. It was a great privilege to serve with her as a forum host. My deepest sympathies to her husband and family.
Don, we are terribly sorry to hear about Dorothy’s passing. I worked with Dorothy for many years at the old District of Matsqui. Then you both moved to Kelowna and we ran into her while staying at Holiday Park. Each time we were there we had some good talks with her.

I met this lovely lady online a number of years ago on a site called Recipe Zaar . She was so kind and such an inspiration.One of her recipes “The Belly Buster” Inspired my son who is Autistic to try cooking and making up his own recipes.
Please know that Dorothy is loved and missed and that you are all in our prayers.
