We Remember

PARROTT, Gerald James

December 3, 1946 — October 21, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Gerald James Parrott, of Maple Ridge, BC, on October 21, 2022, at the age of 75 years.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dawn, and his children Cheryl (Chris) McGregor, James (Evelyn) Parrott, and Charlene (Josh) Croteau; his 5 grandchildren Tyrus, Daelyn, Tobyn, Ryder, and Hayley. He is also survived by his twin brother Gordon (Cheryl) Parrott; his sisters Bev (Dale) Sprague and Barb Parrott (Alan Crawford); as well, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends in Canada, Australia, and England. He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert “Bert” and Rose (née Taylor) Parrott.

Gerry was an Advanced Life Support Paramedic, Unit Chief, Superintendent, and Director for the BC Ambulance Service for a total of 34 years. He has worked in several areas of the Province: Richmond, Langley, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Vancouver, Terrace, Victoria, Saltspring Island, and Vancouver Island.

Gerry was involved in volunteering for many causes. Among these volunteer positions were: an Auxiliary RCMP officer for 15 years; an active member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Group; and an executive member of the Gold Wing Road Riders group in the Okanagan; he co-founded the Okanagan Motorcycle Ride for Dad committee; he was on the Executive for the Lower Mainland Ride to Live; a member of the presenting team for Cursillo and Marriage Encounter weekends; a representative to Synod; and was Church Warden on Saltspring Island. Gerry was also on the motorcycle escort detail for Ironman Canada and Triathlon Events; on the Technical team for St. George Anglican Church in Maple Ridge; and served on McHappy days. There were numerous other causes, all dear to him.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr. Uh and Dr. Stewart, as well as the Fraser Health Community Care and Palliative care workers, for their help and assistance with caring for Gerry during his illness.

A Memorial Service is planned for MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at ST. GEORGE ANGLICAN CHURCH (23500 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge, BC, V2X 3L8), with a reception to follow at the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION 088 (12101 224 Street, Maple Ridge, BC, V2X 6B7).
