We Remember

PATTISON, Ronald

With sad hearts, the family of Ronald Pattison wish to announce his peaceful passing on October 10, 2021, aged 89 years.
A true gentleman, Ron has been blessed with a long and happy life; endearing himself to many with kind words and a warm, gentle spirit.

Born in Fergus, Ontario, Ron began his career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, leading him to Jamaica where he met and married his dear wife Judy. Returning to Canada with two young daughters, Ron and Judy later opened a Christian bookstore named J & M Books and enjoyed their involvement with Elim Fellowship, Canada. In 2007 they moved to Kelowna, BC, to be close to family.

Ron will be greatly missed as he was a much loved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family include Wendy and James Thomson and grandchildren David and Elizabeth Thomson in the U.K. And here in Kelowna; Jenny and Dean Kenyon, grandchildren Michelle Reimer, Melanie Kenyon and Megan Kenyon, and great-grandchildren Rebecca and Rachel Reimer.

The family would like to invite all who wish to pay their respects to join online by Livestream on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2021, at 10:00 AM (PDT). A recording of the livestream will be made available to view shortly thereafter, linked below. We send our sincere condolences across the miles from New Zealand to Ron’s family at this sad time.
We will always remember Ron as a real gentleman. The family Ron has left behind is surely his greatest tribute. We thank him along with the late Judy for our much loved daughter-in-law Jenny.
Ron you have done well. We will remember you.

  • Carol Masse and Borden Jewer says:

We were very saddened to hear of our good friend, Ron’s passing. We met Ron at Grandview Terrace in 2015 and he was a wonderful neighbour who always had a wave and a hello. After a few years, Ron’s coffee group convinced Borden to join them every Thursday morning. When Ron became house-bound, Borden would go down every day, sometimes twice a day, and join him on his walk to the next block or help him fold his laundry. A very good friendship bloomed between the two of them. It was a time of joy for both Ron and Borden. Sometimes, if the weather was not great for walking, Borden would just go down to Ron’s house and they would sit and chat. When Ron moved to Smith Creek, Borden was heart broken as we had moved away as well, but still enjoyed the Thursday morning coffee trips. Once Ron was settled at Smith Creek, we would go and pick him up so that we could continue the Thursday coffee time. As Don had recently passed, it became Ron, Val and Al, Borden and myself. The weekly outing was a great time of joy for Ron and the men. Our hearts were saddened when we heard that Ron had been moved out of Smith Creek and although we were never able to visit him due to Covid-19 restrictions, he was never far from our hearts. We loved him as a great friend. Although we were not able to attend the services on Oct 19th, Ron will always been in our hearts. We know he enjoyed our times together and we would like to send our condolences to all of his family members.
Ron – may you rest in peace and hold hands with your beloved Judy in heaven. Blessings to you with love from Carol and Borden

Our condolences to you and your family, Jenny. Ron was such a happy person. He always had a smile and a kind word when we would see him at the Yacht Club. It was a joy to know him. He will be missed.

Our condolences to Wendy, Jenny and family on the passing of Ron. He was a friendly, caring, thoughtful man. We knew him in Ontario where we attended the same church and often visited his book store. We moved here to Kelowna in 2017 and was blessed to reconnect with Ron again. We enjoyed each other’s company and often reminisced about our time in Ontario. We will miss him but rejoice knowing he’s with the Lord.

  • Marshall Armstrong says:

I was saddened to learn of of Ron’s passing. Expected but never ready. I want to send my sincere condolences to Wendy and Jenny and their families. When Ron and I spoke, even during his last few weeks, he always managed to bring to speak of his family. He truly loved them all and spoke of their kindness. I am so glad that a few years ago I was able to track Ron down from our earlier working days in Jamaica. My trip from here in Oakville Ont. a few of years ago to see him was pure joy. My daughter accompanied me on the trip while on the way to see her buddies in Victoria. On her return leg she managed an over night with me in West Kelowna. Ron did show her around his town of which he was so proud. They both got along so very well. We are all better to have known Ron Pattison.
