We Remember
PEARS, David – UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION
April 13, 1952 — November 1, 2023
On November 1, 2023, we said goodbye to David Pears, 71, radio personality, husband, father, and dear friend.
Dave was born in Vancouver, BC, where he resided until he married his wife Lorraine in March 1974. They moved to Smithers, BC that year and Dave began his career as an on-air personality in radio broadcasting. They moved to Kelowna, BC in 1977, where Dave worked at CKIQ Radio for 19 years. He continued his career in radio, working at CKOV/Power 104, B103, and finally K963 until he retired in 2016. He emceed numerous events in Kelowna including Folkfest, Lady of the Lake pageants, Wentworth Music concerts, and Parks Alive. Pearsy, as he was affectionately known by his co-workers, would have you laughing until it hurt. His quick wit and dry sense of humour were second to none.
There were two things in life that were Dave’s pride and joy. His sons Ryan (born in 1979) and Geoff (born in 1982).
In his spare time, Dave loved to golf and enjoyed winter vacations in Palm Springs with Lorraine and her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Ray Gouthro. Many happy summers of camping, boating, and water-skiing were spent with his family at Wood Lake.
A huge thank-you to the staff at the Village at Mill Creek for the wonderful care they gave Dave while he resided there. Dave passed away peacefully with his family at his side.
Dave is survived by his wife Lorraine; sons Ryan (Ashley Clark) and Geoff (Naomi); grandchildren Ayden and Reagan Walker; sisters Bonnie, MaryAnn Paterson (Rocky), and Carol (Mike Flood).
A Celebration of Life will be held on SUNDAY, APRIL 14, 2024 from 1-4 PM, located at Mid-Town Station Kitchen, #200-1615 Dickson Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
Please R.S.V.P to Lpears91@gmail.com as it would be much appreciated.

Was shocked to hear of Dave’s passing. We talked many times during my radio years in Kelowna and it was always nice to run into him when I moved over to television. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Alan & I send our deepest condolences to Lorraine and family on the passing of Dave. Dave was truly one of the most special people I had the pleasure to work with at CKOV and The Lizard. We shared many laughs together and always thought he was one of the funniest people we had ever met. We hope Dave has found peace now and he will be forever remembered in our hearts and minds.
Our dear departed past… Teenage David playing guitar with cousin Norm, brother Kenny & uncle Jackie at family singalong. Lots of love and fond memories from cousin Jane
