We Remember

PEDERSEN, David Lawrence
February 13, 1960 — November 27, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother David Lawrence Pedersen at the age of 63 in Vancouver, BC, on November 27, 2023.
David was a natural athlete; he enjoyed a number of sports, including skiing and golf. He especially excelled at soccer, winning a trophy for 2nd best player in his league. After graduating from Okanagan Mission Secondary, David moved to Montana, USA, where he worked on a cattle ranch owned by relatives. He then moved to Utah, working in construction, and then to California, before moving back to Kelowna, BC. David eventually settled in Vancouver and got a job with Canada Post, retiring in 2021, after 33 years.
With his wit and humour, David made friends easily. He had a tender heart and was able to see the good in people. Drawn to the most vulnerable, he would open his door to others in need.
David was predeceased by his parents, Alfred & Dorothy Pedersen; his brother, Glen Pedersen; and sister-in-law, Deborah Pedersen.
David leaves behind his brother, Kurt; sisters, Connie Gough (Brian) and Karen Pedersen; as well as nephews, Craig and Chad Brook, and nieces, Alicia Ponich (Clay), Christina Masco (Bowen), Kirsten Pedersen, and Chloe Pedersen (Adam). David will also be missed by his four grandnephews, Eli Masco, Daxon, and Rylar Diett, and Liam Fulton; as well as his four grandnieces Alice Mason, LynnDee, and Eleanor (Ella) Masco, and Olivia Capadouca.
David’s ashes will be interred with his dad’s and beside his brother Glen’s at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.

To my good friend, memories of humour, travels, soccer, our wedding. So many good times. Condolences to David’s family. Rest in peace friend. Always the laughs. Gerhard
I first met Dave when my family moved to Kelowna in 1968. Dave was my first friend I met at Okanagan Primary School in 3rd grade. We quickly became best friends and spent many summer days together swimming in the lake, staying up late and watching scary movies and telling scary stories, playing poker with his family, riding bikes on hot summer days, going to parties as teenagers, and laughing at each others jokes. We spent hours kicking the soccer ball in his back yard and playing on our local soccer team, The Eldorado’s from 10 to 18 years old. We played in 100’s of game together, went on tournaments and had the strongest bond as players who loved the game together. Dave was the best player on the team and I loved playing with him, as did all his teammates. Dave’s friendship during my formative years have left an indelible impact on my life. Although we lost contact in our later adult years, Dave’s presence in my life helped me through some difficult times when I was a young boy growing up in a new country, new school, knowing no friends and having just lost my Dad. He was a genuine, kind and loyal friend. I regret that I lost contact during my later years and was deeply saddened when I heard of his passing. I wish him peace and happiness in his spiritual journey. He was remarkable friend and my sincere condolences go out to Kurt, Connie and Karen.
Love, Terry
