We Remember
PENNINGA, Hendrik “Hank”

Sadly, we announce the passing of Hank Penninga, born in Germany on July 2, 1946 and passed away October 18, 2023, in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
Hank brought a great work ethic to his craft as a butcher; his shop with the bull on the roof was a local landmark in Winfield for many years. He had a wonderful sense of humour in the workplace and at home.
Hank will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Hank is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cheryl; his son, Gary, & daughter-in-law, Deb, and his grandchildren Rhys and Eva; his son Keith daughter-in-law Naoko; and his daughter LeeAnn Adams, and his grandchildren Jessica, Erik, and Emily; as well as his sister, Ruth, & brother-in-law, Mo Umran.

Very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I remember the old shop from GESS days. My sincere condolences to you and your families during this difficult time

We have known Hank family for 55 years. Our families grew up together from camping at Mara Lake, to 10yrs at least at Fintry spent a lot of time together. I actually worked for him more than 40 years we went to a lot of places have lots of good memories. Hank was noted for his meat shop and all the sausages, hams, and bacon. To this day I haven’t found anything as good, some are close but not the same. We will miss him but never forget.
Sorry to hear of this and condolences. Lots of fond memories at the Peninga house and at the shop.
I am sad to discover that Hank has passed away. As a Norwegian I got to know him online through our common interest in trains. I visited Canada both in 2012 and 2014 and met him in his home both times, Picture is from Grey Monk, me besides him and my three travel friends from Norway. Condolences to Cheryl and rest of his family!
Gary, Keith, LeeAnn and family, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time. Your dad touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
