We Remember

PENNY, Arthur Woollard “Art”

August 20, 1944 — July 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Woollard Penny, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Art passed away on July 1, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy built on kindness, integrity, generosity, and unconditional love.

Born on August 20, 1944, in Edmonton, Alberta, Art spent his childhood there before moving to Burnaby, British Columbia, where he attended high school and then the University of British Columbia.

Above all else, Art was a family man. He shared an extraordinary 58 years of marriage with the love of his life, Elaine Penny. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to one another. He was a devoted father to his two sons, Jeff and Rob, and warmly welcomed their wives, Stephanie and Tricia, into the family. He was also an incredibly proud grandfather to Kayden, Nicholas, Kaitlynn, Kyla, and Danika. Nothing brought Art greater happiness than spending time with his family. Art was predeceased by his parents, his brother, and his grandparents.

Art enjoyed a distinguished and varied professional career. He held senior executive positions with the Canadian National Railway, the BC Teacher FederationSchool District #57, and Interior Health. Later, he founded AWPEN Consulting, a successful management consulting company.

Art embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved golfing, camping, and fishing, creating countless treasured memories with family and friends. Hawaii held a special place in his heart. In his later years, Art continued his passion for technology as a hobby.

Art spent his retirement years in Kelowna, British Columbia, where he continued to enjoy life surrounded by family.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Art’s greatest legacy is found in the countless lives he touched. He was an irreplaceable husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. His love will continue to guide his family, and his memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their love, support, and kindness during this difficult time. A special thanks to the Central Okanagan Hospice staff.

A private celebration of Art’s life will be held at a later date.
