PENROSE, Roy Basil
November 22, 1952 — July 7, 2022
On July 7, 2022, at age 69, Roy Penrose passed away in Kelowna, BC. He can now be with his dog Grizz, who he missed dearly.
Roy was from Aldergrove, BC, and was a good man, albeit one with a stubborn streak. In 1973, he met and married Ann. Trina, their first child was born on January 29, 1976, and then, Tricia came along 4 years later, on August 11, 1980. Roy loved his family and was rather private about them.
Outside of work and family time Roy enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to camp and fish, and in 2005, he started an ATV club in Kelowna; in 2010, he also started gold panning. Roy loved music, and he was full of life.
Roy took a heavy-duty mechanics course and loved working on heavy equipment. Roy’s work took the family to many places in western Canada, they lived in Kamloops, BC; the Northwest Territories; Edmonton, AB; and Kelowna, BC. He worked in rentals and was injured during an incident with a tree. Winn Rentals stood by him through his recovery, but even so, he never regained the use of his legs.
Roy’s presence will be missed dearly by his loving family: his beloved Ann, his wife of 37 years; his daughters, of whom he was so proud, Trina Penrose and Tricia Penrose; his grandchildren, who delighted him, Olysia, Aspen, and Pricilla. He also deeply valued his extended family: his mother Edna Eve and his stepfather Don Eve; his siblings Jack, Bill, Marlene, and Ryersone; his stepbrothers Lorne Eve and Gerald Eve; as well as his Uncle Basil Watson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff he worked with at Winn Rentals in 2011 and onward.
Friends and family will honour Roy each in their own way, as no formal service will be held.
