PETELLE, Joel

May 14, 1988 — May 3, 2019

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our son, brother, father, uncle Joel Jerry Petelle on May 03, 2019. He is survived by his loving, parents Ray and Barb, daughter Sophia Lilly, and brother Nick. Also, Grandma Elsie Shygera, Grandma & Grandpa Monique & André Petelle; Aunties & Uncles: Myrna (Mike) Stark, Helené (Jean-Luc) Poupart, Claire (Brian) Campbell, Pierre (Debbie) Petelle, Kevin (Tracy) Shygera, Mick (Janet) Shygera. Predeceased by his Grandfather Jerry Shygera.
Born May 14, 1988. Joel was taken from us unexpectedly and much too soon. Our hearts are aching with sadness, but we’re reassured that Joel is at peace in the arms of Jesus.
Joel was a kind, loving, compassionate man who loved everyone and cared deeply for his family, most of all his little daughter Sophia for whom the sun rose and set.
Joel was a smart young man who was inquisitive about many things; blessing his family with his knowledge. He made friends easily and could make people laugh with the silliest comments or behaviors. Joel also had a gift for spirited, healthy debates about many topics – a gift we enjoyed.
One of Joel’s favorite thing to do was to cook for a house full of the people he loved, making beautiful dinners from the ideas he retrieved from Chefs he admired through books or online. He had a real talent for cooking and would often say, “you have to put love into the dish”. Joel was also a gifted athlete, with a natural talent in many sports. As a young boy he played hockey and soccer, and enjoyed snowboarding and skateboarding. He also loved to play football and floor hockey, but his favorite activity was to go camping with family.
Joel we will miss you with all our hearts and there will never be a day that we won’t think about you and remember you. Until we see you again son.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC. Interment to follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.
