Condolences

  • Marge Aubie says:

Lisa and family, I am so sad to hear about Werner’s passing. I remember him as a very pleasant and friendly man.Marge Aubie.

  • Kandyce says:

He will always be remembered. Remembered as the Opa that taught us to swim, taught us how to garden, how to can peaches, how to make hepshen, how to make apricot dumplings, how to make the best oatmeal, how to draw, how to play chess, play cards, play pool, lick our plates clean, how to be patient, how to enjoy the stars, how to enjoy the clouds, and so much more. Every fresh raspberry I bite brings me to a hot summer day in the okanagan, dripping wet from being in the pool, standing barefoot on the rock path by the raspberry bushes. Looking for the the best raspberries. While Opa is looking for Marmots or checking the apricots for ripeness or squishing ants.
Opa loved to tell stories and be with his friends and family. He loved to make everyone laugh.
I love my paintings from Opa. My carvings too. I have them all and will cherish them forever. I am so glad that he was able to meet my sons and that they were able to meet him. I love him, he will be missed. Xoxo Opa

  • Ray Steininger and Bev Miller says:

Our fondest memories of Werner were the times that he made us smile. He was always so happy, especially around his family. We enjoyed being able to visit with Him and Lisa when they came to Pitt Meadows for a visit. He was a wonderful man and we will dearly miss him. Our deepest sympathies to his loving family. Bev, Ray and Chloe.

  • Chris Hobbis says:

I didn’t have the privilege of knowing him for very long but the few times I did get to chat with him will always be treasured. RIP xox

  • Garon and Kathleen Sicotte says:

Lisa, we are very sad to hear of Werner’s passing. But we hope to join you in the spirit of celebrating his great life. You were great neighbours who welcomed us to Lakeview Heights. We enjoyed all our get togethers and the stories Werner would tell of his life in Germany. He was a great story teller! He was always generous with gardening advice and the fruit off your trees. I remember Werner was very proud of his sons and the family he had in the lower mainland. I know these next weeks and months will be difficult for you, Lisa. You have lost your life partner. But it was a good life and you were great partners! Hold onto the memories and the stories!

  • Al cohoe says:

  • Koriena Budd (Formerly Philipp, nee Ross) says:

(Dear Kandyce, loved and appreciated your entry).
Werner has been special to all of us in so many ways, too many to list.
Thanks to him and Lisa, the world was blessed to have great; Children, Grand Children and Great Grand Children.

Werner touched our lives tremendously and his legacy will carry through us in every way, and every day, forever. Loved his words of wisdom and tips. I will be honoured if I can even come close to his presence.

Lisa and family, my heart is with you, and I will stay connected always. Thanks Lisa for our phonecall this week, it meant a lot to me :).

To Werner, you were a hard worker in life and shared your love and zest to the fullest-especially with your appreciation for nature, humour, and those clowns, lol.
Well done my dear friend. A toast to you.

Enclosed-one of my favourite pictures from the ’80s.

An added note, Doug & Jenny Reid who bought your house Lisa, asked me to express their condolences and well wishes to you. What nice people they are. The place is in good hands and they are taking care of it well.

    Tearfully,
    Love Koriena

  • Mike Gahrns says:

So sorry to hear of Werner’s passing. Werner and Lisa were such great friends to my parents. I am constantly reminded of them and the Philipps by the many treasured carvings Werner had done for my parents that we keep at our family cabin.
