We Remember

POLASEK, Dolores

March 4, 1930 — January 19, 2023

The beloved Dolores Polasek passed away at age 92 on January 19, 2023. Dolores lived a good, joyful life. She liked to laugh and joke, and she had a good sense of humour. Dolores also was great at keeping in touch with others, even the nieces and nephews were a priority for her. She was creative and enjoyed painting, she was smart and was good at crosswords and “Jeopardy”. She made the world brighter.

Back in 1945, Dolores’ family moved to Kelowna, BC, and she continued her education here until graduation. She then attended St. Paul’s Nursing School in Vancouver, BC and worked in the hospital in Vancouver for 3–4 years. Dolores was able to come back to Kelowna for another 3 years to live with her mother, when an opportunity to work in Regina, SK as a nurse opened up, she also stayed there 3–4 years, when Kelowna called her home again. She was able to work at the Kelowna General Hospital for 10 years, and then she went part-time and worked at the Village at Mill Creek Retirement Home, helping to look after the seniors of her community. Eventually, she spent the final 12 years of her life as a resident of the same care home that she worked during earlier years.

Dolores will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church to honour Dolores.
