We Remember

POSTLEWAITE, Loverna Ruth (née Schroeder)

Vernie passed away in Kelowna, BC on Aug 2 2021 at the age of 86.

She is survived by her brother Marvin (Adele); sister Lorna (Ted); sister-in-law Esther; nieces Linda and Kelly; nephews Greg, Jeff, Jason, and Chris; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ted, brother Dennis, sister Joanne Picklyk, and brother-in-law Gerry Picklyk.

Vernie started her banking career in the 60s with the Toronto Dominion Bank and retired in 1990 after 26 1/2 years with CIBC. She moved from Edmonton to Kelowna in 2008 to be closer to family. Her family was very important to her and she loved us all very much. Her last 8 years were spent enjoying life at the Sandalwood Retirement Resort where she developed some close bonds with other residents.

She was an avid reader and a keen armchair sports fan, especially curling and figure skating.

A small family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Starbright.

Condolences

  • Kay McLeod says:

I am writing on behalf of my mom, Kay McLeod. Mom has lived in Sandalwood and became good friends with Loverna. They enjoyed dinner together every night and mom counted on Loverna to tell her the channel for hurling and other sports. I always enjoyed having dinner with her when I visited mom. She was a lovely lady, positive and upbeat and I am sure you will miss her very much. I know mom will miss her friendship and kindness.

  • MP Tracy Gray says:

I am very sorry for your loss and wish your family strength during this difficult time.
