We Remember
RAAB, Marianne
February 15, 1938 — December 11, 2022
Predeceased by her beloved husband Johannes in 2000, our dear Marianne has been reunited with him, having passed away at her home in Peachland, BC, December 11, 2022. Their remains have been interred together in Germany, as she wished.
Hans and Marianne were married in Germany in 1957. Together they immigrated to the United States, where after many adventures, they established and built a small business in Florida with diligence, dedication and the positive attitude that marked all their endeavors. Having no children of their own, they made a practice of mentoring and encouraging many young people. They travelled the world in their loving partnership, Hans’ curiosity and zest for life pulling Marianne into discoveries wherever they went. When Marianne became ill and faced prolonged health challenges, Hans enlisted every resource to care for her.
After winding up their business in Florida, they retired to Peachland in 1992, and fully enjoyed everything the Okanagan had to offer, once again taking an interest in the people they met. After Hans’ unexpected death in 2002, Marianne continued as a benevolent force despite her own frail health and missing her champion terribly. Through these years, she maintained a great and encouraging effect on those around her through her kindness, generosity, and deep faith. She leaves a wide circle of influence in Germany, the United States, and Canada, friends and adopted family who feel with gratitude her lasting presence that blessed us when she was alive.
