We Remember

REPCHUK, Willey “Bill”
—
On July 27, 2024, the Lord called our beloved Dad and “Gigi” home. Willey “Bill” Repchuk of Kelowna, BC, formerly of Wasel and Edmonton, AB. Willey was 90 years young and will be lovingly missed by many, including his children, their spouses, and families: Craig and Jean-Chloe, Arden (Scott), Mark, and Michael (Leanne); Darrell and Tammy – Darian (Kody), and Drew; Cindy and Ron Cannan – Amanda (Steven), Ashley (Korey), and Amy (Frazer); Daphne and Sean Ash – Dryden. He was also great-grandpa “Great-Gigi” to Marcel, Nolan, Ethan, Olivia, James, Emberley and Max. Willey is survived by his brothers Nick and Tom, and predeceased by the love of his life for 65 years, Phyllis; parents Wasel and Raifta (née Tkachuk); and siblings Michael, Mary, Peter, Nellie, Anne, Lena, Alex, and Andy.
Always one to take on any repair or project, Willey will be remembered for his hard work ethic, and attention to detail (especially to his great head of hair); as well as for his steadfast and determined nature (some might even say a little bit “stubborn”).
Willey was a journeyman landscape gardener and Parks Foreman for the City of Edmonton Parks Department, he retired after 33 years of service. He loved the outdoors, travelling, dancing, playing his harmonica and listening to music – especially the boy’s Checkmate Band which he managed for many years.
Willey had a huge heart for his all grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing stories, playing card games (particularly Crib, Uno, Gin Rummy, and 31), and was always on the cusp of winning the lotto 649. He loved spending time together with his family, as well as his special friends at Orchard Haven Housing Society.
His heart was broken when Phyllis passed away last year (almost a year to the day). Then, the cancer eventually overtook his body, forcing him to take his last breath on earth around 4:00 am, when he peacefully began his joy filled journey with Jesus to his eternal heavenly home.
The Repchuk family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Kelowna Hospice House for the loving care they provided during his short stay. Also, a special thank-you to Dr. Deliyannides for going “above and beyond” her call of duty, and to Willey’s personal nurse Norine Cox, for her compassion and special care right to his last days.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to the Kelowna Hospice House, www.hospicehousekelowna.com/how-to-give

Sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Bill. We have many great memories of his laugh and his sense of humor. Will always remember him and Auntie Phyllis and my mom & dad playing King Peter, and the bantering that went on about the men using signals to tell each other what suit they were bidding on. Your dad always treated everyone with respect and was very kind, lots of great memories that live in all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you through this difficult time, God Bless.
To the family of Willy Repchuk,
I am truly sorry to your loss. I’m not sure if anyone will get this since I am extremely late hearing of this. Daphne hope you are well.
All my love Dustin Higgins
Sending heartfelt condolences to the family. At this time of sorrow. Lord be with you 🙏 ❤️

Billy was our best man. Many dancers, gatherings, neighbors to the Halisky growing up. And we were familia. Through the Rosychuk’s side. We were all great friends ❤️
