We Remember

RESCHKE, Jane Theresa

June 14, 1935 — July 5, 2023

Jane Theresa Reschke passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital on July 5, 2023, at the age of 88.

Born Wieslawa Janina Eisler on June 14, 1935, in Sadki, Poland to Eugene and Bernice Eisler, she was an only child. The family immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Grande Prairie, AB. A dutiful and loving daughter, she cared for her parents all their lives until they both passed in 2000.

Jane graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Alberta and taught in private Catholic schools for several years. After attending university in Edmonton, she met her husband, Hugo, on a blind date. They were married in 1962. They made Kelowna their home in 1973 and enjoyed 41 years of marriage until his passing in 2003. One of her greatest joys was raising their four children together.

Jane loved music. She played piano, sang in choirs, and even took up the violin in her forties. She demonstrated a lifelong devotion to learning and was an excellent seamstress, knitter, and avid reader. Most importantly, Jane loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and reflected His love to her family and those around her.

She is survived by her four children, Tony (Arleeta), Deanna (Edward), Greg (Lorella), and Jennifer; and her six grandchildren, Jonathan, Alexander, Anthony, Mckai, Alayah, and Shaylin.
