We Remember

ROBERTS, Mary

April 16, 1934 — November 2, 2017

Mary passed away peacefully at home with family surrounding her on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the age of 83. She is lovingly remembered by her family, daughters: Gayle (Dwayne) Forster, Heather (Rick) Peters and Colleen Mellings; son Dwayne Mellings; her grandchildren: Dawn (Trevor), Candice (Dan), Travis (Lisa), Dean (Ania), Laura and Corrie (Jay); her great grandchildren: Spencer (Dessiray), Kennedy (Brent), Montana, Stephanie, Kyla, Reese, Drew, Madison, Jordan, Rebecca and Sarah; five great, great grandchildren: Asher, Emersen, Blaire, Elijah and Jaxton; her sisters: Ruth (Floyd) Johnson, Jeanette Sorochan, Katie (Rod) Buxton, Annie Lazarenko; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents John and Helen Sorochan; brothers: Bill, Steve, Hilory and Sam and sisters: Stella and Irene.

Mary grew up in a large family in Glendon, Alberta, moved to Edmonton, married and raised four children. After many years, she relocated to Kelowna, BC which was her dream. She worked most of her life, enjoyed camping and traveling to visit family and friends. Going to the casino with her sisters was a highlight for her. Mary loved to play cards, especially crib with her son-in-law Dwayne—and to take his money! She made everyone feel welcome and loved. Mary had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to joke around.

As always, right to the very end, Mary told things exactly the way she saw them.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home.
