We Remember
ROCKWELL, Douglas Walter
December 29, 1939 — April 10, 2016
With great sadness we announce the passing of Doug, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Born in Chilliwack, he grew up in Vancouver until he joined the Navy as a radar operator, where he went on an adventure and saw the world. After the Navy, Doug met Arlene and her two boys, Randy and Michael. They started a great journey together as a family, and Doug began a successful career in computer programming and systems designs until his retirement. Doug was always involved in his children’s lives whether as a hockey coach, Cubs leader “Baloo”, or Little League president. He continued to help others with his volunteer work after retirement. Doug enjoyed many activities with family and friends, always up for crib or canasta, golf or curling, and dog walks or line dancing. Doug is survived by his wife of 52 years Arlene, sons Randy and Michael, grandchildren Courtney, Matthew, Sam, Olivia, Nolan and Quinn, great grandson Brantley, sisters Shirley and Donna, and brother Jim. He was predeceased by his brother Robert. Doug fought a short but courageous battle until his death, and the family wishes to thank the ICU2 medical team at Kelowna General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd Kelowna BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Our hearts and prayers go out to your family Doug. I remember the time that you visited us in Vernon with Arlene and the kids. I was in grade seven. We had a ball with your kids and spent time at Kalamalka lake. It was a summer to remember. You are already missed and won’t be forgotten.
