June 28, 1960 — August 27, 2021
Mike passed away suddenly at his home in Kelowna, BC, on August 27, 2021, at the age of 61.
Mike was born on June 28, 1960, to Kurt and W. Inge Rosger in Murdochville, QC. in 1970 his family moved to Smithers, BC where he was raised, went to school, and worked at PIR as a Millwright for 41 years. Mike retired in 2017 and had recently moved to the Okanagan.
Mike loved God with all his heart. His church family in both Smithers and Kelowna were very significant to him. He was actively involved in his churches and was always willing to help when needed. Mike was currently participating in a church planting in the Okanagan at the time of his passing.
Mike was well known for his generosity and willingness to always lend a helping hand; he always had a pair of work gloves ready in his truck. Mike loved fishing and shared many memories on the ocean with his friends doing what he loved. He enjoyed the finer things in life and found joy in sharing good food with good company and discussions about life and current events.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and his grandson Niko. He is survived by his two sons Nicholas (Carly) and Lando (Kristy); his grandchildren Dakota, Casey, Theo, Rupert, and Anna; his brothers Chris(Anne), Mark, and Robert (Katrina); and several nieces, nephews, and grandnephews.

I write this with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes that my good friend, Mike has been called home, to be with his Lord and saviour. Mike always talked about his family. He loved his two boy’s Nick and Lando, and of how proud he was of them. Mike also loved and took care of his Mom until her death, a testament to who Mike was. Mike had a infectious laugh, I can still hear it in my mind to this day. Mike was also very generous person with his finances and his time. Mike would help anybody who needed help, again a testament to Mike’s character. Mike also loved the Lord Jesus with everything he had. He was sold out for Christ, and that reflected in his life. Mike was a very special person and friend, I was fortunate enough to get to know him, and was blessed for the time we had together. I’m going to miss you my friend, however I know I will see you again. Goodbye for now!
I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to Mike’s family.
When I was around 19, Mike took me under his wing and we developed a very strong friendship. I will always remember our lunches at Alpenhorn and sitting in the back pew at Mountain View Assembly. I feel like he did so much for me and contributed so much to who I’ve become as a man. I was deeply honoured that he was a groom’s man for my wedding; his phrase at that time: “Have truck, will travel!” Even though, as I moved to different places, and time passed, our friendship became more distant, he was always willing to get together for lunch when I managed the trek north to Smithers. I deeply miss him and pray for comfort for his family with his passing.
Many a cup of coffee we did share in our younger days. He fondly called him Big Mike as he was taller than. Mike E. He always had a kind word to say and a smile that could light up a room. Rest In Peace dear friend you will be fondly remembered.
Mike was an incredible person. Always so loving and kind.
I had the pleasure and honour of getting to know Mike very well during his time at church as well at my work where we had opportunities to pray together for our community and co workers. We also would get together for breakfast with other brothers and; sisters in the Lord, Mike loved to treat us all to breakfast, it was his joy to do so. I liked mike very much and appreciated his giving heart. I will miss him deeply but will be rejoicing the day I get to have him greet me in our heavenly dwelling. Love in Christ Jesus
We are so sorry to hear of your dads passing. I (Nola) met your dad at Lake Kathlyn School in grade 4. Your dad was always very kind and happy and fun to be with! Later in life we attended the same church and my husband and I had lots of good visits with him. We will miss him very much!
It’s with heavy hearts we say goodbye to long time friend and coworker we were just helping Mike get organized at his new place and he was so happy w how things were going . We know Mike has gone home to be with His Lord and he can continue his journey in Heaven we will miss you your laugh and your stories RIP brother
To all the family our sincere condolence for your loss. The Lalik’s
I met Mike a long time ago (I was 12 years old). I was visiting my uncle and aunt with my mother. Later when I was 23 years old we meet again. Partly because of Mike we had a fantastic holiday in beautiful Canada. Riding a horse together through the mountains, together (puking from the drink) to Alaska … slaughtering 200 chickens …. What a wonderful time we had. One year my wife became pregnant with a beautiful boy, we gave him the name Mike…
Unfortunately, the contact has been lost due to circumstances.
Now many years later I receive the sad news that Mike passed away at a young age…..
Rest in peace Mike
We miss Mike more with each passing day. Saturdays doing firewood, sharing homemade soup and playing rummy cube with Heather and Colleen was a very regular part of our life. We thank God for Mike and know he is with the Lord, swapping stories with Pastor Jim and his Mom. Our heart hugs and prayers to the whole family!
My Condolences to Mike’s Family!
