We Remember

ROTHERY, Douglas Hawes

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Doug Rothery at Kelowna General Hospital on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the age of 81. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, two sons, Mark (Stacy) and Dan, and three grandchildren, Matthew, Cassandra, and Alyssa. Predeceased by his cherished daughter, Jeanne.

Born in Iquique, Chile, Doug immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950’s. His friendly nature made it easy to share with him some of his favorite pastimes like golfing, ballroom dancing and photography. Doug’s love of life and kindness will be greatly missed.

Condolences

  • John Ryder says:

Trish and Dan, please let me tell you how much I, and we, Doug’s golf buddies, will miss his presence during our games at Pinnacle and Orchard Greens. His natural, easy friendliness and concern for the feelings of those around him, making him the best of golf partners; his appreciation of the beauty that surrounded us as we played, and the photos, displaying each season’s splendor, sent on line by him to remind us of where we had been playing; and his interest in so many things including our national colours and flags, displayed by the variety of decorated golf balls and hats he loved to wear. These were amongst the things that made him a very special friend . I’m sure that I speak for all those who have known him when I send my deepest and most heart-felt sympathy to you and all your family for the sad loss of this good, caring, interesting, and much-loved companion.
