Martin Ruf went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2018 at the age of 90. Born October 16, 1927 in Yorkton, SK
Martin moved to Kelowna in 1947 and attended business school, later working in the accounting offices for W.H. Malkin in Kamloops and Prince George. He returned back to Kelowna after a few years and began his career as a Grocer. He was a successful businessman who owned and operated People’s Food Market Ltd. from 1956 until he sold it in 1992. He worked many long days and weekends but always made time to take his family to their cabin at Oyama Lake, to fish and relax. Many wonderful memories were made and will be forever cherished.
Martin leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret (Krause) his sons: Len Ruf (Debbie) Wayne Ruf and Norman Ruf his daughter Elaine Clifford (Allan, deceased)
grandchildren: Derek Ruf (Jody) Chelsey Davies (Lyle) Ryan Schauerte (Sarah) Amanda Schauerte, Cody Schauerte, Sara Schauerte, John Ruf, and Katerina Rose great grandchildren: Faith Schauerte, Naomi Schauerte, Paige Schauerte, Hayley Ruf, Rylan Ruf, and Callie Davies
Brother: Alfred Ruf (Eva deceased)
and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
He was predeceased by his mother Caroline Ruf in 1964, father Gotfried Ruf in 1978, stepmother Nell Ruf in 1984, sister-in-law Eva Ruf in 2007, and son-in-law Allan Clifford in 2015
A Funeral Service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 4091 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in remembrance of Martin may be made to Kelowna Gospel Mission.
Martin will be missed by his family, relatives and friends, and we are assured that he is now in the presence of his Loving Lord and Saviour.
