We Remember
RUZESKY, Shirley Mae (Amundsen)
May 4, 1930 — January 6, 2013
She was Queen of the Ice Carnival. She sailed up the coast of Norway. She swam with dolphins. She danced with Bing Crosby. She was kind, honest, generous, caring, and a little stoic sometimes. Known as “Momo” to her grandchildren, she placed a great deal of importance on family, and she loved reunions and gatherings. Shirley was an unassuming presence, but she had a fierce will and a farmhand’s toughness. She was determined to make it to Christmas despite a difficult fight with cancer that started in the summer. She died at Hospice House in Kelowna on the twelfth day of Christmas. Her immediate family was with her to tell her how much she was loved and to say good-bye. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1st at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home: 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, consider donating blood to Canadian Blood Services, or donate to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior.

Nap, I am deeply sorry for you loss. During the years I knew you both, I saw you as a model couple to aspire to.
I worked with Shirley for many years at the Bay Kelowna, she was always smiling and cheerful and a treasure to work with. I am so sorry to hear of her passing she will be missed by all of us who worked with her.

I was so sad to hear of Shirley’s passing. As the mother of my best friend through those giggling, crazy teenage years, I have fond memories of her patience and quietly supporting smile through our antics. She nurtured and grew a wonderful family, and I send my heartfelt condolences to you.
I will miss her big smile that she always had when she came in to get her hair done. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, she will be missed.
The beautiful memories Shirley left her family and friends will sustain us in the present loss and grief. Shirley was a true example of what motherhood means; she raised 3 great children, one of them having made a lifelong happy and wonderful impact on me. Thank you, Sherrie.
Hugs, Wiebke
