We Remember
SANBROOKS, Gertrude “June”
June 25, 1928 — April 25, 2023
With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, AKA Grandma, Granny Gussett, and GG: Born June 25, 1928, in Marquis, Saskatchewan, June Sanbrooks passed away on April 25, 2023, at the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna, British Columbia.
June was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Sanbrooks, and eldest daughter, Dixie Churchman.
June and Jerry created 4 remarkable children; she is survived by Daisy (Ron), Mitch, Burke (Liana), and son-in-law Ken Churchman. Mom had 8 fabulous grandchildren, Matthew (Carla), Lynsey (Dave), Rebecca (Kordell), Tyler (Jonathan), Shailie (Laurence), Jennifer (Jordan), Joel (Crista), and Jeremy (Lauren). Another 19 exceptional great-grandchildren followed.
Mom was blessed with good health, and she was fortunate to remain living independently in her condo until her passing. June was a card shark, an avid bowler, and a gifted bread baker (the cookie jar was always kept full). She was also a social butterfly and a lucky casino patron. A highlight this past year was the opportunity to attend her 8th Daniel O’Donnell concert.
We wish to express our appreciation to Dr. Pavan and all the wonderful staff at Hospice House, for the care they gave to Mom.
