We Remember

SARNECKI, Colleen M. E. (née Savage)

April 19, 1946 — February 19, 2024

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colleen. She was 77 and feisty to the end.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to anyone who had the chance to know her.

Colleen leaves behind her daughters Kelly and Jean; grandchildren Cole and Kennedy; siblings William, Harriett, Eileen, and Jim; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents William and Harriett Savage; her brother Albert and sister Patricia.

Colleen was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Osoyoos and Kitimat, BC. She was married to Brian in 1971 and subsequently lived in Kamloops, Creston, Ashcroft, and Kelowna, BC.  She worked as an office manager and accountant for various companies.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, floating on the lake, spending time with her family, and beating most who played Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit with her. She was a voracious reader who loved dogs, Nana Mouskouri,  A&W root beer, and caramel sundaes. Her kindness and wicked sense of humour will be greatly missed.

A private memorial service will be held in the late spring/summertime.

In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations may be made to the SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

“We’ve got smooth sailing, sailing
Looks like every drop of rain is gone, gone, gone
Smooth sailing, sailing
And a blue sky full of rainbows from now on…”

Nana Mouskouri
