We Remember

SCANLON, Jay David
May 2, 1973 — January 11, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of Jay Scanlon on January 11, 2025, in Kelowna, BC.
Jay was born in Edmonton, AB, but spent a majority of his life in West Kelowna, BC. Jay’s family is devastated by his loss, but none more than his partner, Jamie Brown (who loved him since meeting him in high school), and his son, Cole Brown (who looked up to him, thinking of him as a hero and the toughest man alive). Jay also leaves behind his stepson, Parker; his father, Mike; brother-in-law, David (Krishna); mother-in-law, Lana; his nephew, Tanner; his beloved goddaughter, Isobel; many close friends and family; along with his beloved french bulldog, Carl. He was predeceased by his mother, Cheryl.
Jay had mental grit and strength like no other, this made him excel at everything he put his mind to. He was nothing short of impressive and the hardest working, most self-motivated man who built himself a successful business building homes. He could build anything and everything and had a vision like no one else.
Jay enjoyed a very active lifestyle that included travelling and outdoor adventures with Jamie. Jay was his own legend and ours. Always saying what a great life he had. He was an extremely talented athlete and naturally gifted in all sports, but he had a strong passion for dirt biking, golf, and snowbiking (this, he shared with his son, Cole, and his close friends). Jay was always up for any adventure and always wanted to try new things.
Jay enjoyed spending his downtime with his family and friends and was a true friend through and through. He would have your back no matter what and always said he would be there for his friends if they called him at 2 in the morning, no questions asked. He will be deeply missed. He fought a courageous battle with cancer until his final moments and was surrounded by love at his bedside with his immediate family.
I CAN’T REMEMBER TRUE HAPPINESS BEFORE HIM…
AND, THOUGH I NEVER WANTED TO THINK OF LIFE WITHOUT HIM …
I’LL FOREVER BE HAPPY IN LIFE BECAUSE OF HIM.
Jay was very passionate about supporting his local SPCA and Paws It Forward. In lieu of flowers, his wish would be that donations be made to these organizations.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
