SCHENK, Jenny Josepha Maria “Shenny”
July 10, 1969 — May 28, 2023
Shenny Schenk unexpectedly passed away on May 28, 2023, at the age of 53 years. She is survived by her spouse Jody Woods; children Isabella and Jakob; siblings Marieke (James), Francis (Tonnis), Jaap (Philomène), and Ingrid (Bart); nieces Josey and Sarah; and many nephews and cousins in Holland. She was predeceased by her parents Franz and Rie Schenk; and her brother Franz.
Shenny was born in Amersfoort, Netherlands on July 10, 1969. She grew up in Soest in a loving family home and had many wonderful friends. At the age of 9, Shenny and her family moved to Canada. She thrived in school and enjoyed all the outdoor activities. Throughout the years she made many special friendships. She loved it here and had a huge heart. She welcomed everyone with open arms, compassion, and love. Her biggest joy was her children Isabella and Jakob.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view shortly thereafter.

Our deepest condolences to Shenny’s family. Wishing you peace, comfort, strength and love at this time. When I think of her, I remember her smile and spunky personality. Gone too soon, but she will be in our hearts.
Dear Marieke and family, I was shocked to hear of Shenny’s passing this is such sad news. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Marieke I think of you and Shenny often and the great memories of our younger days. My heart breaks for you, so much loss you’ve had to deal with. My sincere condolences to all the family and friends of Shenny. As an outsider looking in it is amazing to see the amount of people that loved Shenny and who Shenny has touched over the years. To look for answers to something so sudden and undeserving is futile. She definitely was a bright light that will keep on shining. The stories my brother would tell me paired a beautiful picture of a beautiful soul and it is clear that she will be missed by many. To my brother who is stricken with crippling grief I know he wishes he could be here to share in this celebration of life, and we will pray for him to get through this process and hold his memories tight. To Mareke and Isabella and Jacob and all supporting family and friends,…….my family and yours are entwined and wish we could have been there to support you more. The video played gave me a much greater sense of who Shenny was and the people she held close to her. A beautiful soul gone too soon to love forever in our memories. Rest in peace Shenny, we love you.

What a beautiful service! I loved hearing the poems and stories of Shenny. I remember her as always a happy person whenever I saw her. Rest in peace dear Shenny! Until we meet again!

Wishing peace and comfort to all of Shenny’s friends and family during this very difficult time. Everytime I hear ACDC , Reggae and some other music I think of Shenny, no matter where I am. I knew Shenny from my time when we were much younger. I was dating her brother Franz; Marieke was my bestie. So much time has passed. Very often I think back to all the times we had together! We used to have such fun. Shenny was so loving; she was a bright light, the life of the party and she just had this enormous personality. I loved her smile and laugh. She had the kindest soul and biggest heart of anyone I knew and she gave the best hugs. The time I knew Shenny and the Schenk family was the best time of my life and I am forever grateful for it. Marieke, my heart aches for you. I am so sorry. So much time has passed, but if you ever want to reach out, I am here. I have never stopped caring. Isabella and Jakob; I don’t even know what to say, just that I am so incredibly sorry. Your mom loved you both so much, she’s looking down on you now. Shenny was a special person that touched so many people’s lives. We all have so many wonderful memories that will live on. Lieve Marieke, via deze weg wil ik je condoleren met het verlies van je zus Shenny. Jullie hadden een mooie dienst en ik vond het fijn dat ik er op deze manier bij kon zijn. Ik denk vaak terug aan de vakanties bij tante Riet die ik had toen jullie babies waren. Het meisje die de fiets vast houdt was ik volgens mij. Het zijn warme dierbare herinneringen.
