We Remember
SCHIMM, Harry
—
Harry passed away on May 26, 2019 at the age of 90. He is survived by his daughters Donna Schimm of Kelowna, BC and Lori O’Rorke of Nanaimo, BC, his son Rob Schimm of Canmore, AB, grandchildren Sean-Rei O’Rorke and Jillian Harvey-Smith, and Rick Harvey-Smith, former son-in-law, who has always been a tremendous support and friend.
Harry was born in Lethbridge, AB and spent his early teen years in Europe during the war. He returned to Canada where he met Joan, got married in Prince George then lived in Kamloops, BC and White Rock, BC before settling in Kelowna in 1973 where he worked as a finishing carpenter. He was an avid model railroader, renowned foodie, photographer, stamp collector and loved hiking in the Rockies. He volunteered for the Kelowna Food Bank for many years and was a frequent blood donor who donated upwards of 100 times. Everyone who knew Harry was touched by his loving nature, sense of humor and sweet disposition. Harry was always a loving and dedicated husband and father. He was a good, honest and humble man who will be terribly missed.
Heartfelt thanks to the loving, hardworking staff at Mountainview Village Complex Care and to Dr. Michael Koss for his wonderful care over the years.
At Harry’s request there will be no service. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences.”
Dear Donna, Jillian, Rick and family. I’m so sorry for your loss. the few times I did meet Harry he was such a delight. Always smiling , jovial and good natured. He loved to introduce himself as Dirty Harry after the clint Eastwood series. He will certainly be missed
