We Remember

SCHMIDTKE , Alfred

Alfred Schmidtke went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2021 at the age of 92.

Alfred’s legacy lives on through his loving family, his children: Loralee (Larry) Gardner, Paul (Charlotte), and Shelley (Scott) LaHay, and grandchildren:  Erin, Heidi, Lisa, Matthew, William, and Emily. He will also be missed by his sisters Helga Berg & Hanni Karpinsky and brother Werner Schmidtke.

He was born in East Prussia to Eduard (Amanda Klemm) Schmidtke.  He was the fourth of ten children. The family immigrated to Canada in early 1950’s and he married Alice Bonn in 1954.

Throughout the years he lived in Lethbridge, the Niagara Pennisula, and Kelowna where he spent the last 55 years.

Sadly, Alfred was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Alice, in January 2019; and by five brothers and sisters.

Memorial donations may be sent to C4i (Christians for Israel).

A Celebration of Life, with Pastor Ed Hahn officiating, will be held on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2021, AT 10:00 AM, AT GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH, 1150 Glenmore Dr, Kelowna, BC. All are invited. For those unable to attend please join online by Livestream (see below). Interment will follow at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC.
