We Remember
SCHMUNK, Gilbert Charles
—
Went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2017 at the age of 71. Survived by his loving wife Susan, daughter Teri-lee; son Brad (Tracy); grandchildren Katelyn (Michael), Danica (Matty), Andrew, Nathan; sisters Pearl, Marg (Ted); brothers Reuben (Hannah), Al (Gwen), Don (Daphne), Bob (Lil); Susan’s mother Olive Gibson and siblings Elaine (Kevin) O’Shea and Tim Gibson. Predeceased by his parents John and Esther Schmunk.
Gil was known for his integrity in both his business and personal life. Over the years he was involved in serving on various boards. From being on the board of directors for the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame, to serving on multiple church boards, finance committees, and building committees, as well as overseas. Gil courageously battled cancer for twelve years; his determination was fueled by the love for his creator, and for his family. Although he will be greatly missed, his eternal life with Jesus will be celebrated Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC. For those who wish to attend, a grave side service will be held that morning at 11:30 am, Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully accepted by missionaries Bill and Linda Mercer in Mozambique, Africa, with cheques made out to Evangel Church.

So sorry to hear of Gills passing.
We was such a huge example to me growing up both in sports and business.
We will all miss him.

We are sorry for your loss, Rueben & Hanna! Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time!
My husband Dave and myself wish to express our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences at the passing of Gil. He was so loved and adored by so many. I remember vividly as a young girl at my first church, Glad Tidings Church in Vancouver BC where Gil along with his wife Sue would both have the biggest smiles on their faces and light up a room whenever they walked in. Gil will be so greatly missed but thankful we have the glorious hope of Heaven where we will see him again. May God comfort you all. Praying for your whole family, Sue and Bob and Lil. Hugs and prayers. <3 <3 <3
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with Sue and the Schmunk family in their grief. May Jesus wrap His arms around each of you and be your strength and comfort in the days ahead. God is good!!! Love and Hugs – Harvey and Edith
