We Remember
SCHNEIDER, Marlaine Marie (nee Kroschinsky)
— February 14, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlaine Schneider on February 14, 2019 at the age of 66 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marlaine is survived by her loving and devoted family: Harold, her husband of 47 years; sons Jeff (Audra) and Joe and daughter Sarah (Corwin); her precious and cherished grandchildren: Aiden, Ethan, Jackson, Evan, Brady, Mara and Ryann; her sisters Alma (Jeff) and Leona (Paul); her brothers Robbie (Trudy), Mick (Trish), Don (Ina), and David (Brenda); her brothers-in law and sisters-in-law Bernie and Marion, Don and Jacque, Joan and Steve, and Marion and Michael and Dolly; and by numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom were special to her.
She is predeceased by her parents Joe and Liz, her brothers Ernie, Laddie and Jerry, and her sisters-in-law Lorraine and Audrey.
Marlaine was the youngest of 10 children, born and raised in Kelowna graduating from Rutland High School. She lived most of her life in Kelowna except for a few years in Fernie, Calgary and Coquitlam. She worked as a bookkeeper for Four Way Foods, at a bank data centre and in her last working years for Paragon Pharmacy and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Marlaine enjoyed baking, knitting, biking and especially volunteering at the Cancer Clinic prior to her diagnosis. But most of all she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing in their lives. And they will always cherish her. She was their biggest fan. Throughout her life, Marlaine’s love of family was foremost.
Marlaine was always interested in the well-being of others ahead of herself. She could easily start a conversation with anyone and could quickly make them feel comfortable and special.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Rachel Carver for her many years of care for Marlaine. Also to Dr.Clarke and all of the doctors, nurses and aides at the Cancer Clinic; and the nurses and staff at Hospice House who made Marlaine’s last weeks as comfortable as possible.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marlaine’s name to the Central Okanagan Hospice House – 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2Z6.

Oue deepest sympathies to all of Marlaine’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time. Marlaine will be remembered fondly.
I am very saddened by the passing of Marlaine and the sadness it brings to all who knew this very special lady. Our families shared our neighbourhood for many years with our children growing up with
Marlaine and Harold’s three wonderful children next door. Marlaine was such a happy and warm person and had a smile that brought sunshine to everyone she met. She was a very hard worker, a wonderful mother and wife. My heart-felt condolences go out to Harold, siblings Jeff, Joe and Sarah and their extended families.
I am so sorry to hear of Marlaine’s passing.. I went to school at Rutland with Marlaine…I remember her as a warm, friendly, smiling person, and when we would occasionally meet in later years, she always had a smile or a wave. My thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
Harold and Family; Our deepest condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Marlaine’s passing. Although we lost touch with each other over the years she was always one of my best friends. She was my maid of honour and I was a bridesmaid for her and Harold. She was a very special person and I have many fond memories of her. Rest in peace my friend. Hugs to Harold and the family
