I had the honour of working with Tom for 12 years. I can not imagine the Kelowna Alcohol and Drug team without him. He truly loved his work and his passion showed in his client-centred approach. My deepest condolences to his family during this very hard time. Know that Tom left an enormous impact on the people who worked with him and those that called him their counsellor. He truly was in the right field and many people benefited from his caring approach and dedication to his life work. Sheila

  • Shiree Sherriden says:

My deepest condolences to Tom’s family and friends. I first met Tom years ago at a workshop that I attended. Tom was the facilitator of that workshop I found him to be so approachable, friendly, understanding, helpful and the most accepting non-judgmental person I had ever met. Over the years I had many opportunities to talk with him and seek advice as he had a wealth of wisdom and was so helpful to me. I was so appreciative for his encouragement and support over the years I made a three dimensional collage for him which he used in his future workshops with other clients. Tom was an awesome individual who gave so much of himself to others he will be greatly missed by many who had the privilege of knowing him.

  • Fred & Darlene Finnigan says:

Dear Terry & Family: Please accept our sincere sympathy at this very difficult time. Tom was such a kind and gentle person, with a strength of character beyond compare. We feel so blessed to have known him and enjoyed his company – and that wonderful twinkle in his eye. He was so much to so many of us. We can only imagine how hard this time must be for you, the ones he loved most dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • Tracy Williams says:

Terry, Kailyn & Keira. I’m the one who brought the card to Tom at the hospital from the Mens Group. ..he was so loved by them.. I got the privilege of telling some of them as difficult as it was.. They really appreciated it.. It was lovely to meet you, Kailyn and Keira.. And great to see you again Terry.. Tom loved and spoke of you all, all the time with pride.. Tom’s absence is a big loss at the office for us.. .. Although Tom isn’t there I believe he’s still doing his magic even after life. As the day after he passed, we received several clients who hadn’t connected in a while.. I believe this was his way of ensuring no one falls between the cracks! Yes, that was Tom! I’m very spiritual person And I believe a few of us were connected the night he passed.. As I received a meditation.. Did it with him in spirit.. To comfort him with his physical symptoms/breathing.. With nature..it was surreal.. But I am privileged to have this experience:. Also, The other day I was driving and heard a familiar U2 song on the radio. I’m a huge U2 fan as Tom knew and we shared love for music and travel.. This song I have heard a million times but this time the words really stood out.. And I thought of Tom.. How clever Tom! I said.. The words are… “I’m more than you know.. A body & soul.. And though you can’t see me.. I’m not invisible.. I am here! “.. I’m not invisible..again very powerful as we all miss this lovely man.. This is now my ‘Tom song’. http://youtu.be/ajVoeX4eqIQ
I hope this brings you comfort as it did to me.. Take good care. He will be sorely missed.
Sincerely, Tracy Williams. Hugs to you all and please keep in touch.

  • Sam Port says:

I was very upset to hear that such a wonderful person died so young. Tom was a pleasure to work with and always modeled the same principles of respect toward clients as he did to colleagues. he was a genuine warm, caring person and he touched thousands of lives, including mine. I am sad and share this with all of those who were close to Tom.
