We Remember

SCHUBERT, Guenter Otto

November 9, 1922 — November 27, 2013

After 91 years, Guenter passed away peacefully in Vernon, BC. He was born in Berlin, Germany. In 1958 he brought his wife and children to Vancouver. As a trained Tool and Die Maker, he soon found employment and later started his own company, GS Industries, Inc. His appreciation of music from the Old Country kept him singing in choirs for over 50 years, first with M.V. Lyra in Vancouver and later with the German Male Choir in Kelowna. Guenter managed to stay out of hospitals for most of his life, enjoying a rich, full life and allowing him to travel the world. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Barbara and Peter, their mother Waltraud, his wife Ursula, his stepdaughter Joan (Robert) Spencer, stepson Frank (Sherri) Hakkaart, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Private family Memorial Services have been held. Donations in Guenter’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 1480 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5Y5.
