We Remember

SCHUSTER, Richard (Dick) William Gerhard

Dick passed away in West Kelowna, BC on Sunday, the 1st day of September 2013 at the age of 84 years, after a long and difficult battle with cancer.  Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Mary, his children Denise Sazwan (Clark) ,  Kelowna, Debra Johnstone (Lance)  Summerland, Daryl Schuster (Sherry)  Sherwood Park, Alberta;  Mary’s children Lori Milmine (Darryl Willoughby) Revelstoke; Sandra Rosten (Robert) Kelowna; Kenneth Milmine, Red Deer Alberta.  Eleven Grandchildren: Shilo (Andrea); Jodi; Brandy (Carey); Georgina; Lacey (Curtis); Richard; Robert; Candi (Jeff); Scott; Joel; and Jeffrey.  Also left to mourn are his adopted grandson Todd, 18 great grandchildren, and a large extended family.  Dick was sadly predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy, and his sisters Doreen and Betty.  Dick was the personification of the word “Gentleman”.  He was a very successful entrepreneur who started many successful businesses.  He was the Founder of the Tiger group of companies and ran them until his retirement in 1990, when he moved from Calgary, Alberta to the Okanagan to enjoy his life of ease.  He very much enjoyed his “snow bird” time in Lake Havasu with his wife Mary, family, and friends.  He was a very kind and gentle man who loved his family dearly and kept a special place in his heart for his granddaughters.  He loved ice cream, cookies, and a wee dram of his special Scotch.  He will be forever remembered and missed by his loving wife and his family.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home Family Centre, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.   Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #4-1551 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9, or the Alzheimer Society of BC, Suite 307 – 1664 Richter Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 8N3.  If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”
