We Remember

SCHWAB, Edna Helen

January 20, 1928 — June 11, 2023

On June 11, 2023, our beloved mother, Edna Schwab (née Klein), passed away to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Mom led a life full of caring, compassion, and service to her Lord. She was a devoted wife, mother, and teacher; an excellent cook and baker; a knowledgeable gardener; and a good golfer, and curler. In her spare time, she took part in church activities such as LWML, Women’s Bible Study, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. Mom was generous to her family and friends and was always willing to help. She loved visiting with friends and family and travelling with our dad around the world. Mom will also be remembered for her lovely smile, bright blue eyes, and her cloud of pure white hair.

Edna was predeceased by six of her seven siblings. Those left to remember her are brother Robert Klein; two daughters, Beverly Newell Fader (Rory Fader) and Gayle (Bruce) Cormier; and three grandchildren, Tara Newell Amos (Mark Amos), Andrew Cormier, and Sarah Cormier (Chase Greyeyes); and cousin, Joyce Petznik. She will also be missed by her treasured nieces, nephews, and friends. She joins our father, Paul Schwab, in heaven, who will be wondering “What took you so long?”.

We would like to express our gratitude for the attention and care both our parents received at Hawthorn Park and Orchard Manor.

We love you Mom. Thank you for all that you shared with us. We hope you are tending a beautiful garden of roses and clematis for us all to gather in again.

Should friends desire, memorials may be given to the Kelowna Gospel Mission  or Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton, Alberta.

A Celebration of Life and a Graveside Service will be held later this summer or fall. Cremation has taken place.

Condolences

  • Michael Reynaud says:

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of Edna 🙁 I spent a lot of time with her while I was doing my practicum for therapeutic recreation at Orchard Manor. From the first day I was there I instantly bonded with her. Not only did she share the same name as my mother but she was such a sweet, warm hearted lady with a smile that would light up the room.
I was the Easter Bunny this year at Orchard Manor and wanted to share this photo of her and I with you all. I am so thankful to have met Edna. I will always remember her.
I send all of her family and friends my deepest condolences.

Thank you for the lovely picture. Mom always wanted to be involved in whatever was going on and I am sure you brought her joy and laughter. God bless you for the work you do there.
