We Remember
SCOTT, Rae George
—
Rae George Scott was born on September 2, 1926 to William George and Florence LaDuke Scott at Bracken, Saskatchewan. Rae was the oldest of three children, his sisters, Helen who predeceased him and Rita Eidsness of Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Rae married Irene (nee Clark) on May 9, 1953 and they had four children. Daryl (Dawn Konelsky) of Drayton Valley, Alberta, Carlisle of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Sandra (Grant McKay) of Mable Lake, British Columbia and Wendy (Rob Harkema) of Ajijic, Mexico. His four grandchildren are Lisa and Brian Scott and Brenda and David Petryk all of Calgary, Alberta.
In 1959 Rae, Irene along with Karl and Sylvia Krauss, as well as their families left the construction crew at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and purchased the local Royalite service station which also had the Firestone tire line, John Deere farm equipment and a fuel bulk plant, just to give them something to do and a place their children could call home.
In the summer of 1970 Rae and Irene decided that the tough northern Saskatchewan winters were far too cold, so they packed up the whole family and moved to Vernon, British Columbia.
Rae went to work in a Real Estate office. A short time later, with three other partners, BEAR Realty was formed and operated out of Vernon for a number of years.
While living in Vernon and Winfield, BC. Rae became very active in the Spallumcheen Pioneer Power Club, or commonly known as guys who want to restore old farm machinery club, with Rae restoring three tractors of his own as well as doing many club projects.
Rae was involved with many organizations and groups throughout his life, Town Council in Meadow Lake, the Masonic Lodge, the United Church and many clubs that just tried to make things better for the community they lived in.
Rae passed away very peacefully at the Kelowna General Hospital on February 14, 2015. A huge thank you to the staff at the Kelowna General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
A celebration of Rae’s life will be held at 1:00 pm at the Springfield Funeral Home 2020 Springfield Rd, Kelowna, BC on Wednesday February 25, 2015. Irene and Family
So very sorry to hear of your loss, our thoughts are with you.
What started as two young girls kindling a friendship, spread to many fond memories of the Scott’s, I call family. From Sandra putting up with a couple of tag alongs, Daryl and Carlisle finding Wendy and I silly stringed their beds, to enjoying many weekends with the Scott’s.
Rae and Irene have always had a special place in my thoughts, and it is with sadness I say goodbye to a very kind gentleman.
My condolences to the Scott’s.
