SENFT, Allan Edward
August 18, 1939 — December 29, 2024
Allan Edward Senft, age 85, peacefully slipped away in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Glenmore Lodge in Kelowna, BC.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Elizabeth Helen Senft (Meyer); son Dwight Senft of Winfield, BC, daughter Dawna (Darrell) Motz of Medicine Hat, AB; grandson Kaleb (Jami) Motz of Medicine Hat, grandson Benjamin (Payton) Motz; great-granddaughter, Sawyer Motz and great-granddaughter Briar Motz of Medicine Hat, AB; sister Mildred Beisel of Swift Current; brother-in-law Alvin (Kathy) Meyer of Kelowna; and 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents Edward and Rebecca Senft; brother Wilmer Senft and sister-in-law Lillie Senft; and brother-in-law Lloyd Beisel.
Allan Edward Senft was born on the Senft family farm near Hodgeville, SK on Aug 18, 1939, to Edward and Rebecca Senft. Allan was their youngest child and a brother to Wilmer and Mildred.
Allan attended Vickers School, he enjoyed many pets on the farm, and Dolly the Shetland pony was mentioned often. Ice skating, riding bikes, and a trip to the United States, are some memories left in photos.
In 1957 Allan attended Hillcrest Christian College in Medicine Hat, AB. Here a lifelong commitment to his Christian faith and a heart for the ministry became his calling. He graduated from HCC in 1960. Friendships and good memories were also a part of his college days. Also, young love, as Allan proposed at Police Point Park to his college sweetheart, Elizabeth Meyer.
Allan and Elizabeth were married on July 13, 1960, in Glenbain, SK.
Together they served in the ministry to the following churches in Saskatchewan with what is now the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada: Esk, Wapella, Whitewood, Leader/Burstall, Yorkton, and Saskatoon. Their home was always open to others and they have fond memories of many friends who made up the congregations they ministered to. Sharing God’s love to a hurting world and hope in Christ was Allan’s heartfelt prayer for others.
Echo Lake Bible Camp was very important to Allan and he served as Director for a number of summers. Chapel time and making sure the kids had fun boating or trying to water ski were some of his favorite responsibilities.
Two children completed their family. Dwight Edward Allan was born on December 6, 1963, in Leroy, SK, and Dawna Lou Helen was born on November 5, 1965, in Moose Jaw, SK
In 1986, Allan and Liz moved to Kelowna, BC. Here Allan served as director of the Kelowna Gospel Mission, being part of the Kelowna community, caring for the less fortunate, and offering them hope.
Allan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his early 20’s. Health challenges throughout his 85 years were no stranger to him, but he never complained and had an attitude of “things could be worse”. His favorite Bible verse was “This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it” Ps 118:24
Allan was a very handy person when it came to building and making things work. His greatest accomplishment was building a motorhome. Many years were enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing with family and friends. Anglin Lake, SK was one of his favourite places.
He enjoyed curling, ski-dooing, woodwork, building, and flying remote control airplanes. While living in Yorkton, he organized a church hockey league and was the goalie for the Salem Kings.
Two grandsons, Kaleb James Motz born May 24, 1990, and Benjamin Joel Motz born April 12, 1993, were his pride and joy. Benjamin and his wife Payton, added to their family, giving Allan two beautiful great-granddaughters, Sawyer Anne and Briar Anne.
Memorial Donations may be sent to Kelowna Gospel Mission.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Our condolences to Elizabeth & Family, I personally have fond memories of visiting Uncle Ed & Aunt Becky while Allan was
still at home. I remember the Shetland pony and Allan trying to teach me to swim in a nearby slough. I’m not really a water lover. but I think I can swim if I have to!
We will be believing for God’s blessing to rest on you ongoing, Elizabeth and your family!
