We Remember
SERVEDIO, Michele “Mike”
May 24, 1932 — July 31, 2023
Sadly, we announce the passing of Mike Servedio, born in Grumo Appula in the city of Bari, Apulia, in southern Italy on May 24, 1932, and died at the age of 91 in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada on July 31, 2023.
Mike immigrated to Canada on October 22, 1958. Mike was the embodiment of a true people person, effortlessly charming wherever he went. Socializing with friends and neighbours brought him immense joy, as he relished in connecting with others. But above all, his heart was truly full when he was surrounded by his beloved family. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, brought an unmatched sense of fulfillment to his life. Mike’s contagious laughter and genuine interest in others made him the heart of every gathering, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria Giuseppa. He leaves a legacy through his children, Vincenzo (Lyn), Francesco (Laurel), and Lucia (Antonio); his grandchildren Angelina (Anthoni), Marco, Justin (Melanie), Michael, Maria (Carmine), Christina (Scott), Daniel (Corinna), and Anna (Ryan); and his great-grandchildren Olivia, Bianca, Antonio, Stella, Alessio, Matteo, Damiano, Fabiano, Cristiano, Mia, Jaxon, Sophia, Zaylee, Andre Mikayla, Jase, and Koen. His memory will also be held in the hearts of his surviving siblings: his sister Domenica; sister Bina; and his brother Gino & sister-in-law Linda; as well as by his many nieces and nephews.
Mike goes to join those who have taken this journey before him: his parents, Vincenzo & Lucia, as well as his sisters Laura and Ceclia.

My deepest condolences to Mikes wife kids family and friends. I met Mike at the baseball Feilds some 6-7 years ago but it wasn’t until a few years ago that he found out I was from quesnel which he also lived in quesnel when he first came to Canadian and one of my best friends Grampa and grandpa were some of his friends from Italy! We couldn’t believe it! He truly was a special person always happy kind and willing to share his garlic or cucumbers from his garden and some home made wine! . Mike will be missed by many teams from the baseball for he touch a lot of people with his charismatic personality! May he rest in peace!
Maria and entire Servedio Family. Our sincerest, heart felt condolences on the passing of Mike. We are going to miss our paisano and our daily interjections of Italian culture including jokes, songs and sayings. Of course, advice on life as well as stories from the old country. You choose a fabulous picture that captures that cheeky look in his eyes. He was fun to tease. We referred to him as the mayor of our cul-de-sac and he loved that reference. Each neighbour has numerous stories of interactions with Mike over the years that will provide us with memories going forward. Riposa in pace amico nostro. Zeno & Sandy Cescon
We send our love, hugs and prayers to the Servedio famiglie.

Hi Angela
I’ve just heard the news about your father and was truly saddened for you. I send you my deepest condolences and lots of prayers. I am sure this is a tough time for you and your family.
May you find the strength to get through this.
Rest in peace
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the Servedio family – Aunt Maria, cousins -Vince, Frank, Lucia and your entire families and relatives. May his life well lived provide you comfort with cherished memories and a legacy that will remain and continue in your hearts and lives. A few of my special memories to share. Uncle Mike was proud of his full head of hair. I remember him quite willing to share his secret, and with a twinkle in his eye he said, he regularly shaved his head over the years as this would prevent him from balding, I guess it worked. He also was a teaser, when I was 6 years old, playing at a school playground across the street from his house, had my front teeth knocked out of my mouth with a heavy metal swing. It was very difficult to pronounce my s’s. He would ask me how old I was and would mimic me, “thix” years old. The experience was worth it considering all the fun he experienced in teasing me for many, many years to come. He also loved to dance and sing and thought it was good to start young so Vince and I were paired up at a very young age. Cherish the memories and cherish one another. Love is a gift!
