We Remember
SHABATURA, Robert
—
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Shabatura, age 83, born February 6, 1939, and passed away January 26, 2023. He leaves behind Eileen Shabatura, his beloved wife of more than 50 years, and their son Lance Shabatura.
Bob was born in Tuelon, Manitoba, but grew up in Red Lake, Ontario. He worked on various jobs/locations in his career as an electrician, which eventually brought him to BC. He was always on the go, whether it be on his motorcycle, truck, or car…rain, hail, sleet, or shine…always a social butterfly. In retirement, he was an avid metal detector…this hobby took him all over the world from Canada to England and Australia. He was a welcome member of the Okanagan Treasure Hunters Club where he could showcase his Hunt Findings (priceless or not, they were all invaluable to him). He will be loved and missed by all he crossed paths with.
Bob will be remembered individually by family and friends, by his request no formal service will take place.

Eileen, Lance and all Bob’s Friends, we were so sorry to hear he had passed. He was a good friend of ours through OTHC. We loved all his hunt stories and spending time hunting with him. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all of us. I was the Lucky bidder on his last Christmas Treasure Chest at our Club Christmas Party this last December. I proceeded to do a post a day of the Treasures inside the Chest. I called it The 12 Days of Bobmas! It was a big hit on our Okanagan Treasure Hunter’s Facebook Page. I will Treasure his Chest and gift it back to the Club when time comes. Sending our love. Karen and Michael MacKenzie, Okanagan Treasure Hunter’s Club.
Eileen and Lance thinking of you both. We always enjoyed our chats with Bob. He was definitely a people person.. Wishing you comfort and peace.
Rod, Glenna and family.
Eileen and Lance, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Allayne and I are so sorry for your loss. Robert and I were friends since our childhood days in Madsen, roaring around on our bicycles, fishing in Russet Lake -so many memories over the years. Will miss that gravelly voice on the phone- “Hey its Robert, watcha doing?”
I’m so sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. My father and Robert’s mother were first cousins. I remember him coming out to Winnipeg Beach with his parents. Plus we used to visit them in Red Deer. Sorry for your loss. Shirley
Eileen, Lance and Family,
My sincere condolences to you. I cannot find words to express how much I am going to miss Robert. He was like a brother to me and seemed an invincible force in the world. I’m sharing a picture that was sent to me where Robert and I were sharing a birthday cake – half blue and half pink. We had the same birthday. I can’t imagine the loss you are feeling and my heart goes out to you. Sending you my love, hugs and peace of heart. …. Michelle

Each and every day and positive about life… As I read the remarks about Bob,, it makes me smile inside about how caring of a man he was to everyone . Going to miss him for sure ( Bob had a special bonding relationship with our puppy Max) Hope to see him on the other side some day in the road of life,, and he can tell me more short stories of course…
