We Remember
Sharalyn Jean DURANT
April 16, 1948 — January 8, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharalyn Jean Durant on January 8th, 2018. She was born in Star City, Saskatchewan on April 16, 1948.
Shar will always be remembered and cherished by her husband Keith, her son David and his wife Lindsay, their children Daxin, Mavin, Colben and Keslan, her son Raymond and his wife Amanda and their children Mya and Noah. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sisters and brothers and many family members and friends whom she treated as family.
Shar loved her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and kept God first in her life. Her deep-rooted faith brought great comfort and joy to her and to those she loved. Her genuine love for people was evident by how she served others. She worked at KGH bringing love and comfort to everyone with she came in contact. She would take time to stop and pray with people who were in the operating room waiting to go into surgery. Shar was a second mom to so many, always ready with a welcoming hug and an open heart. She took the time to connect at a heart level. Her love extended beyond those in her direct circle to anyone who needed a friend. That network of friends stretches from near and far. Her acceptance and love has touched so many lives.
Shar had health issues all of her life but always remained optimistic about what God had in store for her next. This reality reminds us that every day with her was truly a gift. The last 20 years with her have been some of her best and the healthiest years of her life—they have been priceless. Shar was energetic and strong, unafraid of hard work. She was passionate about traveling and adventure and up for the challenge of trying new things. She didn’t waste a moment along the way and impacted so many people.
Shar cherished her family and spent her time showing that in every way. She was a dedicated and involved wife, mother and grandmother. Some of her happiest moments were picnics at the park, hiking, travelling and just being present with them. Shar’s generosity, hospitality and kindness has made our lives richer.
Despite the challenges of these past few years, her eyes would light up to see those she loved. Never for a moment was she not glad to see you.
Shar—wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend—we love you and cherish our memories with you. We are so thankful for the hope we have through our Saviour’s work on the cross. We will see you again one day.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Kelowna Gospel Fellowship Church, 3174 Gordon Drive, Kelowna.

Keith and family so sorry hear of Shar’s passing she was a sweet and caring soul who had a heart of gold. Lana James
Keith and also Julie, Cal and your families. Heard today about Shar and wanted to let you all know that we are thinking of and praying for you. It has been many decades since we were all in the youth group at Hillsdale Alliance church in Regina. Although we have not seen any of you since those days, I have very fond memories of the times we all spent together, sharing meals, playing football, campfires, and discovering God through our Bible studies. I’m glad you mentioned pictures and have attached one that includes Shar and Keith plus several of us on one of our fall adventures down in Lumsden Valkey I believe. Hope it brings you a smile. May God bless you and hold you all close in His loving arms, giving you strength and comfort.
Keith, David, Raymond and family I wish you my sincerest condolences and prayers for your family at this time. Shar lived her life to the fullest as a woman who reflected the example of the woman in Proverbs 31 especially verses 25-31. I know she loved her family so very much, she was outgoing, friendly and caring. She worked hard and had an infectious zest for life. May you feel God’s peace and comfort at this time.
