We Remember
SHEARSMITH, Bradly
May 8, 1999 — February 8, 2026
We are deeply saddened to share the news of Bradly (Brad)’s sudden passing on February 8, 2026.
Bradly grew up in Gibsons, BC, where he developed his deep love for the outdoors and strong sense of community. In his younger years, he was a proud member of the 858 Skookumchuck Squadron in Sechelt. He aged out as a Flight Sergeant and later returned as a Civilian Instructor, giving back to the program that helped shape his discipline, leadership, and early passion for aviation. Those years reflected the determination and adventurous spirit that would continue to define him throughout his life.
In 2018, Bradly moved to Kelowna to pursue higher education and follow his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. It was in Kelowna that he built a life he loved and where he met his fiancée, Baylee, the love of his life. He was looking forward to marrying her and starting their life together. He was known for his gift for making friends wherever he went and his passion for sports, especially volleyball, golf, snowboarding and fishing. A dedicated pilot, he found immense joy in flying his Piper Cherokee and sharing that experience with others.
Bradly was predeceased by his father, Ken, in 2024. He is survived by his fiancée, Baylee; his mother, Ana; his siblings Sharlene (Michael), Hausen (Herschel), and Heidi; and his nieces and nephews Skyler, Sophia, and Sebastian. He was also a devoted cat dad to Anakin, Gnocchi, and Sweet Murphy. He made time when he could to visit Bobo, the family dog. Bradly leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and countless friends whose lives he touched in every place he lived, worked, and explored.

We have lived next-door to BRADLY and his sweet fiancé Bailee , and dear parents Rob & Barb for years…: and nothing could’ve prepared us for the shock to hear of the terrible work accident that took BRADLY’s life.
Bradly was an exceptional young man whose soul light shone brightly from his eyes and through his huge smile which sparkled every time I saw him, his step was eager as he approached life, full of excitement.. He was surrounded by many people with the same energy and it was a wonderful to behold the many fun days and summer evenings spent in the backyard playing volleyball, especially during Covid lockdown. It was always such a joy to hear the laughter of all these young people gathered around Bailee and Bradly.
It was only last October, the big celebration of their engagement that I met his mother and sister. Who were here from the Sunshine Coast.
In the weeks since his passing, I’ve come to know more about what a phenomenal young man Bradley was from the families, and wanted to share an article about him when he was a cadet age 17

Who lived with kindness and grace. Your gentle spirit touched every heart you met, and though you’re gone, your love remains forever in our lives. Rest in eternal peace.
Even in death you are still loved and forever will be. You have touched the hearts of so many who owe you a lifetime of gratitude. We are not saying goodbye forever but goodbye for now. I pray you find peace and rest wherever you are… rest in peace.
With great sadness over the loss of Bradly I send heartfelt condolences from Slave Lake Ab. I had the pleasure of working with Bradly, he wasn’t just a co’worker but a friend. There wasn’t a rig site that he had attended where the crews didn’t love him. He is, and will forever be missed by so many of us in the Oilfield Transport Industry. His huge smile and bigger than life personality mixed with his attention to detail and professional attitude will be carried with me each day.
My heart breaks for Ana, Family and Friends. Bradley was one of the 1st friends my son met at school. He was always such a kind person to everyone, especially the underdogs. I will be praying for all of you. So glad he knew Jesus while he was here on earth, and now he is in his saviour’s arms.
Donna, Levi and Sydney
Bradley was a friend who was strong and steady, always there, always bringing the best energy and enthusiasm to every situation. He will be missed everywhere.
Thank you for having Brad’s Celebration of Life on live stream. It was a beautiful service. I had the pleasure of knowing Bradly well through his Air Cadet years on the Sunshine Coast. As well, his dad, Ken, helped with all sorts of things during those years. I send my sincerest sympathy to Bradly’s fiancée Baylee whom I had the pleasure of meeting last September at All About Flight, to his mother Ana, sister Sharlene and husband Michael and all Bradly’s family. Gone far to young, may your memories of Bradly comfort you.
