We Remember
SHEAVES, Richard Eric
November 20, 1952 — June 14, 2026
Richard Eric Sheaves passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in Kelowna, BC, after several years of battling cancer. He was 73.
Richard was born in Newfoundland and made his way out west to Fort McMurray, where he spent his entire working life. It was a golf tournament trip to Kelowna that brought him together with Pamela, his partner of over 20 years, and the two made their life together from there.
He was a sports fanatic through and through, a devoted Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Steelers fan who would happily watch just about any game that was on. He loved classic rock along with Matt Minglewood, considered a good lobster dinner a special treat, and could be found any evening with a White Bacardi Rum, lots of ice and a splash of Diet Coke for color, never the other way around. Richard was a man of contrasts: stubborn, quiet, and subdued, but also the life of the party. He also had a quiet fondness for people-watching, content to sit back and take it all in.
He is survived by his beloved Pamela and step children Greg (Krista), Jeff (Madi), Chelsea, and Tiffany; as well as by Donna, the mother of his daughters; Samantha (Brad), and Jessica. Richard will also be missed by his grandchildren Blake, Koen, Reid, Daxton, Aliyah, Brynleigh and Kade; Siblings, Joe (Siss), Ernie (Debbie), David (Cindy), Eric, and Heather; as well as his sister-in-law Sandi (Rob); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

My sincere condolences to Pam and all of Richard’s family and friends. I will always remember the fun times spent with Richard & Pam over the years. Always a good time! He will be greatly missed 💜
To a good friend whom I’ll miss very much. Especially the golf trios and best roommate on those trips. Ann will miss that saucey demeanour of his. He was one-of-a-kind. And now Henny will have good company.
To Pamela, Samantha, Jessica, Greg, Jeff, Chelsea, Tiffany, and all the family. Greg was on sport teams with Richard from little league ball and minor hockey to beer leagues of both.. We spent so many good years together growing up in North Sydney and later after we all moved to the Fort. We didn’t see each other as much as we’d like after we moved home but were lucky enough just 4 years ago, to reconnect when we were travelling through BC on our way back east. We spent a lovely evening with you and Richard, Pam, and could see how happy he was with you, the kids, the extended family and the dogs! Richard was a good friend to many and we count ourselves fortunate to have so many shared memories. He was loved.
Richard was one of a kind special guy, always enjoyed my time with him. When I think of our time in Ft. Mac, Richard often comes to mind.
