We Remember
SHIELDS, Judith Anne “Judy”
March 27, 1937 — October 22, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Judy Shields, who passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on October 22, 2024, at the age of 87.
Judy now goes to join those who passed before her, including her parents Sydney and Jean Wilson, and her brothers Allan, Morley, and Kent.
She leaves behind a wealth of love, including her beloved husband of 65 years, Glen Shields; children Lori (Ed) Macala, Wendy (Don) Bingham, Terri (Kelly) Arnelien; grandchildren Taylor Rowe, Jillian Rowe (Craig Roberts), Morgan Arnelien (Rachel), Brett Arnelien (Kelsey Rochefort), and Paige Arnelien; loving step-grandchildren, Mollie Mott (Nick Mott), Hamish Bingham (Haylie Griffis), Connor Bingham (Sydney), and Carla Macala (Todd); great-grandchildren Olli Arnelien, and Parker, Riley, and Billie Mott. Also left to mourn her loss are her siblings, Cameron Wilson, Harvey Wilson, and Cecil Wilson; along with many loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and cousins.
Judy was born in Ridgedale, SK on March 27, 1937. She moved to Chelan, SK when she was 12, then returned to Ridgedale to finish high school, where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Glen. She attended teacher’s college in Moose Jaw, then switched to business college and joined the office at the Moose Jaw hospital. Judy and Glen were married in Moose Jaw in 1958, with the arrival of their three daughters following soon after. In 1964, the family moved to Saskatoon where she raised her children and later worked at the Bay. She then turned her lifetime love of plants into a business of selling and caring for tropical plants in various businesses, which she ran for several years before retiring and moving to Vancouver. Her new passion became quilting, which stayed with her throughout her life. They moved to Kelowna in 2002, and she and Glen travelled extensively, and wintered in Arizona for about 15 years. Golf was also a big part of her life. They enjoyed their years in the Sandalwood community, and more recently at Northwood Retirement Resort.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their care and kindness. Her family would also like to thank all of her doctors and nurses who took such good care of her. She will be missed by many.

Glen and family,
We are heartbroken to learn of Judy’s passing. The many memories we share will stay with us. We are so happy that we had a last visit when you came to Vancouver last spring. Regrettably, Norm’s health is also fragile so we are not able to travel to the memorial. But our thoughts and prayers will be there in spirit.
Dearest Glen and Family,
We are so very sad at the loss of our dear friend and playmate Judy. She was always a go getter and we
enjoyed golf, gardening, and events at the Sandalwood clubhouse too. You and Judy have always been a big part of our community and we will miss her humour and advice too. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
Fondly, Susan and Beth
