It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anastasia (Nancy) Shykula of Kelowna on June 22, 2014 at the age of 78 years. Nancy will be forever remembered and cherished by her three surviving brothers: John (Elsie) Shykula of Calgary, Steve (Joan) Shykula of Salmon Arm, BC, Michael Shykula of Kelowna; and three sisters: Catherine Thaller of Saskatoon, Jenny Shykula of Lake Country and Patricia Hamilton of Kelowna. She will always be in the hearts of her 15 nephews and nieces and 24 great-nephews/nieces, other family members and dear friends. Nancy is predeceased by her parents Maria and John Shykula, sister Ann Watson, brothers-in-law James Watson and Hank Thaller; niece Kathy Shykula-Kollar. Prayer Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Dormition of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 1091 Coronation Avenue, Kelowna, with Reverend Andriy Werbowy and Reverend Andrzej Wasylinko officiating. Interment to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer (202 – 1835 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC V1Y 3H5) or Parkinson (600 – 890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9) Societies, or the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada (151 – 32500 South Fraser Way, Suite 213, Abbotsford, BC V2T 4W1). The family expresses deep gratititude to Spring Valley Care Centre staff for their loving care.
